Kate Pocklington
Kate Pocklington was born in the flatlands of rural England. She studied fine art and graphic design, and later Conservation and Restoration BA (Hons) at the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom, graduating with a first class honors in 2008. She moved to suburban Oxford for 5 years for her career in museums as a natural history conservator and restorer, whilst involved in community art projects, collaborations, and help for vulnerable groups including a gender equality festival aimed at raising awareness for many of the false expectations of young women. Her work focuses on nature, societal change and the destructive (and sometimes loving) human-nature parallels. This often creates a connection between her art and her career; preventing degradation, revitalizing the past of science and nature and looking behind and beyond. Now living in Singapore she continues to use her spare time for art whilst carrying out her day job in a museum restoring thousands of preserved animals.
