In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mukaito Taiko

Mukaito Taiko means “The dream of crossing the ocean”. This name alludes to the wish of the first Taiko group in Argentina originated in Okinawa. It has been 21 years since they “crossed the ocean” and reencountered Japanese immigrants that had chosen Argentina as their new home. This music group performed in various cultural events spreading Taiko and their culture. They opened their doors offering classes for beginners and the possibility to form a stable group. Currently this group is made up of Japanese descendants and Argentines that share an interest for their culture.

Andrea was born in Venezuela and has lived in 3 different countries. She is bilingual in Spanish and English.

Caio Rodrigues Faria Brighenti

Innovator
Caio Brighenti (@caiobrighenti) was born in the city of São Paulo, in Brazil. However, at the age of 7 he moved to Michigan, in the United States, with his family. It was there he learned how to speak English, and now considers himself fully fluent in it. About 3 years later, he moved back to Brazil, but to the beach city of Santos. After 4 years in Santos, he moved yet again, this time to Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been there ever since, and it was there he learned to speak Spanish. He considers himself to be fluent in Spanish, but believes his Spanish is not as good as his English or Portuguese.

Diego was born in Mexico. He has lived in Mexico, Canada, Brazil and Argentina. He speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish.

Ellie was born in New York City, USA. She has lived in Buenos Aires for about five years, and she speaks English and Spanish.

Felicitas Hadad

Felicitas was born in Argentina and has lived her entire life there. She speaks Spanish and English.

Gabriela Shimako

Gabriela was born in Brazil, and lived there for 15 years, until she moved to Argentina, where she has been living for 2 years now. She speaks Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Living in these two countries, Gabriela noticed overt sexist inequalities between men and women how difficult it was to change the mentality of the people living in these contexts. But when she got the opportunity to do a TEDx talk, she knew that that was her chance to gain people's attention to this current situation that not only happens in Brazil and Argentina, but in the whole world.

Micaela Fernandez Iglesias

Mica was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She speaks Spanish and English, and hopes to learn Japanese. Her talk explains the way she was able to pull herself out of a traumatic event and how this event influenced the person she is today.

Nicholas Lampietti

Perfectionist
Nicholas is originally from Washington DC and has lived there the majority of his life until moving to Buenos Aires in 2012. He is almost bilingual, with just a little bit more Spanish to learn. Being in Argentina has given him the opportunity to be in a new place, culture, and travel around all of Latin America.

Petrina Nomikou

Petrina was born in Athens, Greece sixteen years ago. She has lived in Athens,Greece; Rome, Italy; Lausanne, Switzerland; and Buenos Aires, Argentina. She can speak Greek, English, French, German, Spanish and currently she is learning how to speak Mandarin Chinese.

Sherlock Liang

Sherlock was born in China and lived there all his life before coming to Buenos Aires, Argentina at the age of 14. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, English, and a little bit Spanish. He has been giving speeches, singing, playing instruments, and acting in different languages throughout his life. He doesn't claim to be a professional but he indeed has some special experiences and opinions about performing on stage. Stage fright has become normal to him but he has a unique method to "overcome" it which is to understand it.

Sophia was born in Santa Monica, California. She's lived in the United States for the majority of her life, in California, New Jersey, and Georgia. She moved to Argentina in 2011, and while living there she's learned Spanish. She has a French Bulldog puppy which she adores.

YouChin Oh was born in Mexico but identifies herself as Korean. One talent she has is that she can perceive and change something obvious or small into something important and huge.
