In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carlotta Minero

Carlota Minero is a big believer in positivity. She loves to read about stories that she can easily relate to. She also likes to keep up with important world issues that impact our society

Christopher Sims

Chris is a Grade 12 student at Hamber. When he's not writing his book, he plays on the Reach for the Top team, acts in musicals, edits the school newspaper and plays classical piano. He can talk for hours about history and board games if he so desires, and can count from one to ten in nine different languages (with some actual skill in five of them). His favourite historical figures are Aristotle, Cicero and Beethoven.

Ciara Andruski

Ciara Andruski would like you to believe she's been a Baller since birth, but the full story isn't quite that linear. She's a self proclaimed master of regret and wrong choices, and a duelist of inner demons. TEDx gives her a sick feeling in her stomach, but despite that, she knows that she's Ready.

Hunter Van Dyke

Hunter Van Dyke is in his fifth and final year here at Eric Hamber. A native to Vancouver, he grew up loving the outdoors lifestyle his parents introduced him to. With his loving family including a younger brother and dog, he quickly learned the usefulness of first aid at home. Since beginning to study first aid at the mere age often, his love for first aid and helping those in need suddenly blossomed. Now seventeen, an indoor and beach lifeguard, swimming and first aid instructor, he hopes to pass along the importance of first aid.

She holds an immense passion for student government, having served as the Vice President of Churchill for the 2015-16 school year. Dedicated to helping others achieve, Jan is also the President of Starts With One, a non-profit youth organization committed to the alleviation of child poverty within the Vancouver region. Identifying immensely with TED’s mission to perpetuate ideas worth spreading, Jan hopes to inspire a newfound comprehension of community with her talk and is honored to be speaking at TEDxYouth@EricHamber.
