In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Enrique Arriaga

Director of botanic garden
Biologist with the life mission to organize the botanical Garden Jotaudo-Quibdo Choco as an international center of scientific and technological research on biodiversity. Enrique points to the importance of the forest in the Colombian Choco, called 'The worlds lung" for the world's ecosystem, and mentions the importance of preserving the 8,000 plant species which are threatened of extinction due to mining and logging in this area.

Jefferson Antonio Buendia Rodriguez

Professor/ medical
36 years old doctor of medicine who teaches at the University of Antioquia. His passion is the investigation to find safe and effective therapeutic solution for children.

Judy Elena Echavarria

Community leader
Is a development promoter of Moravia, community leader, member of the Moravian community gardens group, a strong woman with many passions. Her willpower and conviction that the people of Moravia deserve a decent life motivated her to raise her voice for the community. In the past Moravia was just a gray spot on the map with a very high crime rate and the rubbish dump of the city. Nobody wanted to know anything about this place and today is a benchmark for Colombia, especially for its achievement in environmentally recovery.

Luis Fernando Alvarez

Teacher
28-year old rapper and farmer. His passion is the work in his community with the objective to build a social construct by the interdisciplinary work of “Agroarte”. The project “Agroarte” combines agriculture with hip hop, while hip hop tells stories of the city, under the city is the earth where many stories are contained.

Mileidy Domicó

Student
22-year communication student, who combines her two passions: indigenous identities and audiovisual. In her documentary and final thesis she addresses the issues of indigenous people in Colombia .

Santiago Martinez Jaramillo

Student
20 years old student who believes to generate conscience of current problems by education. He thinks that all people with their talents can develop solutions and transform the world. His motivation is ‘synergy’, according to his definition: ‘We multiply together, but only sum alone!’

Santiago Ortega

Professor/ civil engineer
30 year old civil engineer who works as a professor assistant. His passions are the conversation with other people, reading and cinema. His focus is urban sustainability and quality of life which in his opinion is something like ‘common sense’.
