Thomas M. J. Wingate Vachon
Professor of English Literature and British Culture and Co-founder of "The Wingate School"
Born in the UK of French and Anglo-German parents, I married a Mexican economist and diplomat. We have three children and, currently, three grandchildren. My BA in English and History and Theory of Art (Hons) is from the University of Kent, PGCE (Secondary English) from Leeds University, MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision from Georgia State University, and MA in Victorian Studies from Birkbeck College (University of London). I have worked in education for 30 years in the UK, USA and Mexico, both in English departments and holding several administrative positions, mostly in high schools. I also much enjoy coaching public speaking and debating. My pupils from City of London School won several major awards, one being the ESU "Great Britain and International" debate trophy in the Palace of Westminster, London, in 2006. My family team is about to open "The Wingate School," a new British-style school in Mexico City. C19th British art, literature and history in particular.
