In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ritu Saini

Entrepreneur + Survivor
When Ritu giggles, she gives no indication of the ordeal she’s gone through in the year 2012. One look at her face, though, tells her horror story. Overnight, Ritu’s life was changed by an acid attack. She has had to drop out of school, leave state-level volleyball practice, and has confined herself to her Rohtak home. Unfortunately, Ritu comes from Haryana – a state with a skewed sex ratio, which has made growing up for Ritu even harder. Now, Ritu runs a cafe in Agra with other such survivors which allows them to lead their life, the way they like it.

Rupa .

Acid Attack fighter Rupa likes to stitch clothes, and she has designed garments from her own. Even in the darkest of hours, when she was fighting the prejudices that followed after she was attacked by acid, Rupa chose to wake up to her dreams of opening her own boutique.
