In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dimakatso Sekhoto

After acquiring her Bcom degree, Nono worked in the financial services industry for 6 years, at PSG Konsult and Investec. In 2011 after being frustrated by the constrictive work environment she decided to venture off into a totally new direction and joined her father at their family commercial farm in the Free State. Now charting her own path, Nono manages the farm looking after 24 permanent staff, 600 beef cattle, an apple orchard, and 700 ha of arable land growing sunflower and maize. This has led her to engage with the likes of relevant Ministers, MEC’s, the Free State Premier, large agribusinesses in the country.

Kgomotso Mogapi

She is founder of A’Dare Women Wellness Centre, Dr Kgomotso Mogapi works in the centre as a Women’s Health Practitioner. It is a primary healthcare centre established in March 2010 to focus primarily on preventative healthcare, wellness & lifestyle solutions for women. She is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT), and worked extensively in the department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology prior to going into private healthcare. She also has a special interest in Sports Medicine, having worked as the team doctor for the National Women’s Soccer team (Banyana Banyana) as well as being regularly invited to be part of the medical team for sporting events.

Khanyisa Bunu

Khanyisa Bunu as one of the few “queens of comedy” in Africa. Bunu abandoned a career as a schoolteacher a few years ago and is one of the few female comedians to break into South Africa’s entertainment sceneSome of her highlights in comedy were appearing in 99% Xhosa Comedy twice in Port Elizabeth and David Kau's Blacks Only Comedy.

Leela Ramdhani

Leela has 25 years of work experience in various corporate sectors ranging from Hospitality to Financial Services and Banking and running entrepreneurial ventures. Her roles in have ranged from Finance (15 years) to Human Resources (7 years). Her last corporate role was Chief Learning Officer at Nedbank. She has been building her own consulting business for the past 4.5 years. She is holding Masters in Business Administration, B comm Accountancy and Professional Coaching Course.

Liepollo Pheko

Currently Director at NGO/Think Tank , the Trade Collective which deals with socio-economic policy ,migration and citizenship, ecological ethics,movement building, specialised research ,political economy Manging Director and co-owner of a management consultancy: Four Rivers Trading. This has consulted with the UNDP, NEPAD, SADC, corporate, donor and government clients . Interventions include economic policy analysis and modelling, statistical data interpretation, business planning, corporate coaching and socio economic policy analysis. Goals to use progressive and innovative tools to find Afrika centred ,gender aligned solutions to achieve global impact

Lorraine Jenks

Tireless activist and change agent in advocating responsible, sustainable and greener practices in all sectors. Teacher and intrepid traveller, Lorraine worked with environmentalists and the EPA in California in the 1970s, eventually back home, became Contracts and Procurement Manager for Africa’s largest hotel chain for 15 years. Lorraine then went solo and completed training with: the UNEP (UN Environmental Programme) Eco Labelling course, NCPC (National Cleaner Production Centre) certification, Green Building Council Green Design and Decor, the Green Leaf Carbon Audit programmes and most recently, trained with Mr Al Gore as an accredited Climate Reality Leader.

Sbusisiwe Myeni

I am a budding public speaker and lover of language. I ventured into the field of public speaking two years ago when I joined Toastmasters International. In 2014 I entered my first contest - the annual Toastmasters District 74 Humorous Speech Contest – and I won! I will be defending this title later this year.
