Momus
Momus — the artistic alter-ego of Osaka-dwelling Scot Nick Currie — has been wildly unsuccessful across a variety of fields. He’s made 30 albums of electronic folk music, published six novels, and performed in museums worldwide as an “unreliable tour guide”.
Cherish Weiler
Born into a religious cult, Cherish Weiler spent her life watching her parents leave behind the world they knew and start a new life in the United States. She learned powerful lessons of endurance from the ex-member community, lessons that pushed her to earn two engineering degrees as a first generation university student.
Maya Yamashita
A Tokyo native, Maya Yamashita is a graduate of Keio University Faculty of Letters. She's published three books in Japanese, two in English, and currently writes for 'La Feminite'.
Her area of interest surrounds the culture and history of Asian women, with a view towards continued empowerment and understanding.
Mika Matsuo
Mike Staffa
Mike Staffa moved from the United States to Japan in 2005 and has spent the past 10 years performing improv comedy with the Pirates of the Dotombori and the Pirates of Tokyo Bay. Mike founded both groups and they are the only bilingual improv comedy teams in Japan. With them, he has also toured across Asia (Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Hong Kong and Manila). Mike has given TED talks at TED@Tokyo Worldwide Talent Search (2012), TEDxTokyoTeachers (2013), and also hosted TEDxBurnsvilleED (2014) in the US. He loves watching and playing almost any sport. While living in Osaka, joined a "salaryman" baseball league and was the only foreigner in a 30-team league.
