Annabel Ashworth

Grade 11 student
Bela is an English-Indonesian student at Bandung Independent School. Born and raised in Bandung, Bela comes from a bi-cultural home. A musician and writer, her interests in linguistics come from a language barrier between Bela and her own family members, hence her topic in dying languages. Having changed her mother tongue over the years, Bela hopes to shine a light on the conservation of language and bring forth an issue dear to her heart.

Dimas Janssen

Grade 12 student
Dimas is currently a G11 student at Bandung Independent School (BIS). He was born in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands to a multicultural family; his father is Dutch and his mother Indonesian. However, he has spent most of his youth and education in Indonesia. Since a young age, Dimas has travelled widely, hence seeing travelling as a luxury and allowing him to have an open mind and develop his fascination by the history, music and cultures of the different places he has been to. This helped him to become more aware and interested of how local and global issues can shape people in their societies. Besides being interested in many concepts, he has a great passion and inspiration in many genres of music, particularly rock. His hobbies include singing, cycling and doing sports and practising martial arts. He believes that if we appreciate and understand more of what is the driving force of different people that it would help the world change and hopes his speech in the TED x would inspire.
