In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andre Rigby

Music teacher
I was the artistic director of Canada's Saint Cecilia's Youth Orchestra, a spiritual musician who has been immersed in soul of music. I have more than 13 years of experience in musical performances especially in playing the classical trumpet. As a musician, I think that the music does not only play the role of entertainment, but more importantly is the use of music in this regard, it is to evoke and promote people’s sensation in different aspects. So I put forward to feel the music's innate humanity and acquired effect, and organized a number of large music exhibition in various places.

Marcello Galluzzo

teacher
Marcello Galluzzo has had an extensive history in education that includes both struggle and success. From an early age, he struggled to succeed in education and consistently fell behind his peers. But, through that experience, he learned the value of the phrase "to succeed, you must first fail." With determination and the help from others, he was able to overcome the obstacles he faced in education. As a result of his transformation, he now studies education with a focus on students who are struggling academically and has adopted the philosophy that through embracing failure, we grow and learn.

Melissa Maclean

Math and Science Teacher at Sylvan Learning Centre & Card Dealer at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino
Ms. Maclean was born and raised in the smallest province of Canada, Prince Edward Island. After earning her Bachelor of Education degree, Ms. Maclean sought to gain some teaching experience by teaching abroad. Moving from the rural parts of a small province to a large, unfamiliar country was a big step for a small-town girl. Little did she know that moving abroad and travelling Asia would be a catalyst for personal growth.

Yanni Wang

Nursing student
I call myself a traveler, a fighter who proves myself by practicing, a dreamer that lives my life. I consider traveling as a part of my life. January this year, I had my first backpacking trip in Thailand. I helped with construction work at a local orphanage and taught English at a primary school. Most importantly, I drank in the glamour of different cultures. As a volunteer, I enjoy helping others. As a traveler, I delight in traveling all over the world. In my opinion, traveling is a lesson in life.It endows you the power to be calm when confronted with challenges. It tells you that money does not equal happiness. It motivates you to start working from now on in order to achieve success.
