In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Andy Paige

Andy Paige is an undergraduate at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. In the past, he has been nominated in front of Congress on behalf of the Epilepsy Foundation. He has also worked with a filmographer to document information about his personal bkacground.

Mumbi Ngugi

Mumbi Ngugi is a graduating senior at the Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. She is also the 2014-2015 Student Governor for the MacArthur Campus based in Jupiter, Fl.

Sameer Hinduja

Dr. Sameer Hinduja is a professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University. His area of research focuses on internet and computer-related crime and deviance as well as cyberbullying. He is currently the co-director of Cyberbullying Research Center, a center dedicated to providing up-to-date information about the nature, extent, causes, and consequences of cyberbullying

Sara Thomas

Sara Thomas is a senior at the Harriet L Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University majoring in Marine Biology and minoring in Environmental Studies. She will be attending graduate school in the Fall to pursue a career in fisheries and fisheries management. Sara is passionate about individual efforts to make a positive difference on our oceans and the environment. She is thrilled to share this idea with you and encourages everyone out there to speak to what they are passionate about and never let the size of your dream hold you back!

Tony Plakas

Tony Plakas is the CEO of Compass Community Center, an LGBT resource center based in Lake Worth, Florida. He has nearly 20 years of experience providing community organizing, advocacy, and public health & education related to social justice. Through strategic planning, motivational practices and experienced leadership, he works with others to rally communities to action in the interest of building knowledgeable, active, inclusive environments where everyone can reach their full potential. He specializes in Nonprofit management and consulting; HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and treatment; and advocacy and education for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth and adults.
