In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alex Relota

Speaker
Alex Relota is senior at Cardinal Newman HS. She would like long walks on the beach if she liked walking. She does enjoy strolling around San Francisco. As a lover of art and a talented artist, she feels at home in the city. If you're looking for her, check Space Mountain at Disneyland or her couch were she watches Tangled, her favorite Disney film. She enjoys drawing and hopes to be an animator. Or nurse. Or both. Who knows? She lives in Santa Rosa with her parents and dog Mako who is a small, energetic, pampered, spoiled mutt.

Ali Mitrovich

Ali Mitrovich is a senior from Windsor, CA. She is a competitive dancer; dancing since she was 8 years old, and is now teaching a class at the studio she began dancing at many years ago. She has two nieces, with another on the way, and spends as much time as she possibly can with them. After suffering Lyme Disease for three and a half years, Alexandra held her very own first annual "In the Lyme Light" fashion show fundraiser for Lyme Disease and began her senior service project. This fundraiser, held in the Cardinal Newman gym during her junior year, raised almost $7,000 for Lyme Disease, while also educating the audience about the dangers of this invisible illness. She is passionate about this project and is holding the second annual show on April 9, 2016. She hopes to attend college next year at either Seattle University, Pepperdine, or University of San Diego to begin studying medicine.

Brock Bauer

Brock was born in Los Altos, California but has lived in Sonoma County for the past 12 years. He lives with his mom, dad, and a rambunctious golden retriever named Ryder. Brock plays both lacrosse and water polo, and enjoys fishing, hiking, skiing, and playing harmonica in his free time. Currently, he teaches a Model United Nations class for 8th graders at Roseland Accelerated Middle School. He plans on studying economics in college, and is excited for the anticipation of the college acceptance process to end soon.

Cameron Baker

Cameron Baker is a senior from Santa Rosa, and has been attending Cardinal Newman High School since his sophomore year. He ran cross country both his freshman and sophomore year of high school, but is going to play lacrosse this year. During the summer Cameron works as a swim instructor and will soon become a certified lifeguard. He has a younger brother named Colby and a pet goldfish named Tim. In his free time, you'll find Cameron shooting hoops with his friends or binge watching Netflix series. His favorite TV show is Making a Murderer, and his favorite artist is Drake.​ In the past, he raised three service dogs, two of which went on to become therapy dogs and one that went on to become a service dog. He plans on attending the Santa Rosa Junior College next year and working towards his teaching credential.

Christian Hextrum

Christian Hextrum is a little over average height so some people call me Big C. He lives in Santa Rosa with his mom, dad, and three sisters. He is a sophomore at Cardinal Newman and is 15 years old. His is currently the captain and leading scorer of the Newman JV basketball team. He attended St. Eugene's from kindergarten through eighth grade and will be at Newman until he graduates. Soon, he would like to begin serving in the St. Eugene's CYO basketball program to coach and mentor players. Christian would like to be an architect after college.

Elissa Papale

Elissa Papale is from San Francisco, California, but currently lives in Santa Rosa with her mom Valerie, sister Emily, and their two dogs, Hannah and Bella. She is a member of the 2016 graduating class at CN. She began playing tennis at age ten and has been part of CN tennis and USTA. After high school, she plans to study pediatric nursing and keep playing tennis.

Kaitlyn Ryan

Kaitlyn Ryan is a sophomore at Cardinal Newman High School. She lives in Santa Rosa with her family-- three brothers, two older and one younger. She enjoys hanging out with friends and playing sports, especially volleyball in the fall and lacrosse in the spring. She is not sure which college she would like to attend, but hopes to soon figure it out and accomplish her goal of finishing high school with an exceptional GPA and get into a top college.

Lexi Allen

Lexi is a senior at Cardinal Newman High School. She is an avid dancer and trains her two border collies in agility and obedience. She plays golf and even traveled to Pebble Beach to play with golf pros training for the PGA tour. She travels the world with her family and has done service work in India with Love Manifest. During her upcoming India trip in 2016, she will donate a well to a leprosy colony. She hopes to attend Santa Clara University where she will major in business.

Nick Uebel

Nick was born and raised in Sonoma County, and currently lives with his mom, dad, and an Australian Sheppard named Taz. He has been involved in 4-H since the age of five, and has raised sheep as part of their farming program for the last nine years. In addition to playing water polo and swimming on Cardinal Newman’s varsity team, he is currently teaching a STEM class at Forestville School. He wants to attend California Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo where he plans on studying Aerospace Engineering. After he completes college, he wants to work on rockets and space travel.

Royce Goldschmidt

Royce is passionate about education reform as well as soccer, electronic music, sleeping, and becoming a professional hacky sacker. He is a four year letterman on varsity soccer at Cardinal Newman. For his senior service learning project he is teaching and mentoring kids at a local charter school. Royce comes from a big family, being the middle child of five isn't exactly a minor detail. His unique personality is shown by how comfortable he can be on the stage.

Spencer Almy

Spencer Almy is a member of the class of 2016 at Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, CA. One of his passions is flying and he is on the way to getting his Private Pilots License. He plays lacrosse and football. He has always wanted to be in the military and is planing on attending the United States Naval Academy for college next year. He is a passionate student and enjoys being at school doing science and math.​
