In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Diaz Wionczek

Ashley Gavin

Ashley Gavin is a computer science education consultant with a passion for making computer science curricula empowering, accessible, and above all, fun. Her wok in curriculum and program development serves as the foundation for some of the finest educational organizations in the country including her brainchild “Girls Who Code”. During high school, Ashley was actively interested in tech. However, she was denied access to computer science courses at her school due her failing grades in math and science. In her senior year, the newly appointed CS teacher noticed her affinity for tech and took a risk by letting her drop math and take computer science instead. Ashley has since been working to do so for as many students as possible, especially those in underrepresented groups.

Ben Mirin

Ben is a passionate birder and field ornithologist who has chased birds all over the world, most recently developing a journalistic focus on stories about the intersection of nature and popular culture. He is also a professional beatboxer who has competed nationally while documenting the beatbox world as a writer and videographer.

Blaze Gawlik

Blaze is a CAS Senior studying Economics and Computer Science. His passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) began with with the wonder if it was possible to capture human intelligence in a machine. His path has been extremely invigorating because of its multidisciplinary nature, generating lots of interest and support from all fields. The implications of the existence of a fully comprehensive AI would be extraordinary!

Stacey Ferreira

Stacey Ferreria is the CEO of AdMoar and the co-author of 2 Billion Under 20: How Millenials are Breaking Down Age Barriers and Changing the World. Previously, Stacey was the co-founder of MySocialCloud, which received $1.2 million in funding from Sir Richard Branson, Jerry Murdock, and Alex Welch, and was acquired by Reputation.com in 2013. In addition, Stacey has been featured on and contributed to several news outlets, including the cover of Seventeen Magazine, The Huffington Post, Women 2.0, Business Insider, TechCrunch, and Forbes. She has been recognized by MSN as “19 Ridiculously Successful College Dropouts Who Prove You Don’t Need a College Degree”, by Forbes as “50 Startup Founders You Need To Follow on Twitter”, and by Business Insider as one of the few “Successful College Dropouts.”

Sudhi Kaushik

Sudhi Kaushik is a proud Alabamian. He is currently pursuing an international relations degree and a degree in journalism at New York University. He wants to be happy yesterday, caffeinated today, and helping people tomorrow.
