Aflatunes

Aflatunes, an organic no-instruments band, was conceived by Navarun Roy along with Anish Nair and came into existence in August 2014. Their debut music video on Youtube, a beat-box and acapella cover of ‘Sir Jo Tera Chakraye’, came out in Feb 2015. Their intriguing and creative style of music has merged the diverse musical genres of beat-boxing and acapella making them quite an unconventional musical group. Navarun Roy the front-man of the group is one of the most popular and influential beat-boxers in the country. Other members include Anish Nair, Aruna Jade, Nilay Singh, Jennifer Mike Fernandes, Ruchee Anna Verghese, Dany Marshal, Jaimish Ashar and Pearl Alex, all musicians from varied musical backgrounds. The idea of no-instruments and only vocals, matched up with how these individuals mime instruments, has stirred up some great entertainment for their audiences. The band aims to evolve the concept of no-instrument music to a whole new level and keep making more and more fun music.

Oza and Trivedi brothers are three college going students who came together as a group to create fusion music by playing classical music on modern instruments.

The Old Bombay People

Old Bombay People is a band that was formed by the some college students who performed in the year 2012. The uniqueness of this band is there is no drummer. The concept of using various kinds of local indian instruments has always attracted people to listen to them. They have performed at various well known events like Entourage,Waves,Kaleidoscope Malhar,V Channel,DD National, Pannah, Victoire etc They don't believe in winning but losing themselves to the power of music. Aadar Malik

Aadar Malik is an Indian-Pakistani actor, musician, stand-up comedian and part of the popular comic group, Schitzengiggles which was formed in 2014. currently residing in India. Aadar has played the lead role in the Indo-Canadian movie - "Under The Same Sun". He began performing standup comedy after portraying the character of a comic for his play, “Papier mch petals“ (thespo12 festival) Being a musician, writer, singer, he enjoys mixing music with his comedy. His most noted song being “She Called Me Bhaiya” along with various other hilarious and innuendo-ridden songs including a song about his Pet Goat, and another one about how his father had sex-educated him.

Abhinandan Sekhri

Journalist
Abhinandan Sekhri has been involved with the film and television industry for the past 20 years. Mr. Sekhri has co-founded Small Screen, a firm that provides audio-video content solutions across platforms (TV, film, online) and Newslaundry, an independent news media and media critique platform. He was the chief script writer of the Great Indian Tamasha and Gustakhi Maaf, an award winning political satire TV shows and has also produced and directed Highway on My Plate, a popular and award winning food and travel show. Apart from all this, Mr. Abhinandan worked as a camera assistant on Mira Nair critically acclaimed movie, Monsoon Wedding.

Anandmurti Gurumaa

Anandmurti Gurumaa has extensively spoken on myriad subjects like mind, meditation, emotions, health, indulgence, reality, God etc. and given erudite commentaries on numerous scriptures including Srimad Bhagawad Gita, Sri Guru Gita, Gurbani to name a few. She has devised a vast array of meditation methods to foster the growth of all those seeking to delve within, written several books of wisdom and given remarkably in-depth eloquent discourses on numerous sages from diverse backgrounds – then whether it is Buddha, Kabir or Rumi, Sikh Gurus, Sufi mystics or Zen masters, Meerabai, Sahajobai and the list goes on. Her discourses, meditation retreats and workshops are held from time to time at different places across the globe, open to every earnest seeker.

Anshu Jamsenpa

Mountaineer
A mother of two children, Mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa, created mountaineering record by climbing and unfurling the National Tri color on Mt. Everest on 12th May 2011 and again on 21st May 2011. She is the first mother in the world to summit the world’s highest peak twice in a span of just 10 days. On 18th May 2013, she summitted Mt .Everest for the third time. She holds the world record of a mother having conquered Mt. Everest thrice. Being an adventurer from a remote North East India, she has been a strong proponent of adventure sports and adventure tourism in the region. She has advocated for early commissioning of National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS) which is coming up at Dirang in Arunachal Pradesh. She has also taken up the issue of opening the virgin Arunachal peaks like Mt. Kangto7090 mtr. Mt. Nyegi Kangsang 7050mtr. Mt Gorichen 6488mtr. etc for mountain climbing & expeditions.

Apurv Gupta

Student & Youth Representative to the United Nations
Mr. Apurv Gupta who is currently a student of International Relations and Law in the University of Edinburgh is a Youth Representative to the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Council. He has held honourable positions of responsibilities in the United Nations Association of the United Kingdom and Ireland and has served as the Vice President of UNICEF UK “on campus” branch. Apart from being the founder of the United Nations Association Youth Group in Edinburgh. Apurv has also been a part of the very prestigious G-20 Youth Summit as the Head of the Republic of India. Currently interning with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Apurv is also the recipient of several premier scholarships and honors both at school and university level which has eventually culminated in him working with and for affected communities in countries like Australia, Peru, Thailand, India and the United Kingdom.

Mohsin Memon is an entrepreneur, L&D professional, and the author of The Preparedness Equation. He has held leadership roles at Walmart Inc. and Delta Airlines where he implemented significant IT interventions. As the founder and Sr. Partner of Memcorp LPS, he has brought about lasting cultural change at organizations like Motorola, Reliance and GroupM using design thinking and gamification. The author of The Preparedness Equation, he believes in the idea that people have the potential to be great if they know how to truly prepare themselves to take advantage of the opportunity when it does come. Mohsin is also an avid blogger. His blog titled, ‘The Muslim, The Philosopher and The Adventurer in Me’, proves that he is an adventure junkie with rock climbing, mountaineering and sky-diving being some of his hobbies.

Sadia Saeed Raval

Clincial Psychologist
Sadia Raval is a clincial psychologist by profession with a special interest in the field of Mindfulness. With an iota of experience from working with schools, hospitals and the Center for Suicide Prevention, she founded ‘Inner Space Counselling and Assessment’ in 2010, a center focussed on psychotherapy and counselling. Currently the Chief Psychologist at Inner Space, and holding over 15 years of experience in the field of psychology, she began her project ‘Integrated Mindfulness Programme for individuals’ in 2013. The program aims to show that living life in a more conscious manner enables one to deal with ones thoughts, habit patterns, relationships and emotions more effectively. She has worked with HIV+ orphans at Ashadeep and has volunteered with Borderless World Foundation, an NGO working with orphaned girl children in Kashmir.

Saisha Srivastava

Dancer
Saisha Srivastava is a 20-year old student at Vassar College, New York. She was born and raised in Kolkata, India. She is a dancer, formally trained in jazz and ballet. She is also the founder of 20 Days of Rain, a project aimed at spreading happiness through dance. Tying up with schools for blind and visually impaired students, she and her group of instructors hope to bring positivity into the lives of visually challenged youth, one dance workshop at a time. Pursuing her Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Chinese, Saisha has been a research associate with the Centre for Studies in International Relations and Development (CSIRD), India, and is currently interning with a financial consultancy firm in Shanghai, China.

Sameer Dua

Management Educationist
Sameer Dua, a management educationist has an experience of almost 2 decades. He has set up and run institutes in India as well as UK from the early 90s. Currently he is the Founder Director and the Program Leader for The Institute for Generative Leadership, an extended arm of The Institute for Generative Leadership, USA. Sameer empowers those who do not realise their own potentials and brings logic to vague ideas. This certified Zig Ziglar trainer is the advisor to top ranked B-schools in Asia, Britain, America and Europe. He is also the founder and chief catalyst of ‘Gift your Organ, this visionary plays the role of a catalyst in precipitating a transformation in Organ Transplantation in this country. His true vision for the Gift Your Organ Foundation is that there will be no deaths in India for the want of organs.

Sandeep Desai

Mr Desai was a professor in one of the top B-schools in India but gave it up to help uplift the poor. He is a man committed to his dream to educate underprivileged children, living in the rural areas of Maharashtra and Rajasthan. In order to make money for this 52- year old professor goes around begging in Mumbai’s crowded local trains. He has done so for two years and has raised 50 lakh rupees. The money is used to run four English medium schools already, with a fifth school to open shortly. The people living in the areas where Mr Desai has set up the schools equate him to a God as he helped them achieve something they could never even think of. Yet Mr Desai says that his job has just begun and that there is a long road ahead.

Satyajit Bhatkal

TV/Film Director, Writer & Lawyer
Satyajit Bhatkal is best known for being the director of popular Indian TV series, Satyamev Jayate. A lawyer by profession, he took a keen interest in the political and social causes and wrote extensively on them. A decade after practicing law, he quit to take on the film and television industry. He was a part of the core production team of Lagaan, a landmark Hindi film and directed India’s first ever theatrical documentary ‘Chale Chalo’. He went on to write a critically acclaimed mini-series called ‘Bombay Lawyers’ which was broadcasted by NDTV in 2007. He also co-wrote and directed ‘Zokkomon’, produced by the Walt Disney Company and which released in 2011. His productions are all extremely famous and have been watched by several people world over. Adding to his contributions to the film industry, he is also the author of a bestselling novel titled the ‘The Spirit of Lagaan’ which has been translated into three different languages.

Shailendra Singh

Shailendra Singh is the Joint Managing Director of Percept Limited, Inceptor of Asia’s #1 Dance Music Festival – SUNBURN Festival, and bestselling author of F?@K Knows and The True Story of Sunburn. Some people know him as a Sports Marketing Guru, while some as an Advertising wiz. He has been a game changer across advertising, entertainment and Bollywood for more than two decades, by keeping his focus on the consumer and incepting first-time-ever intellectual properties. Shailendra Singh is best known for starting ‘Cricketainment’ in India and has a keen interest in promoting other sports like soccer, tennis, cycling, golf, boxing, etc. He is an exceptional innovator and a creative thinker in terms of strategizing his ideas. His liveliness and infectious energy is something that sets him apart from the crowd.

Shardul Bajikar

Botanist
A student of natural history and nature itself, Shardul’s career spans over 15 years. His primary academic pursuit is about fig trees and the role they play in sustaining an ecosystem. An ardent lover of plants, his study focuses around plant – animal interactions and he makes it a point to spread awareness and help share his passion with people at large. Shardul is closely associated with Sanjay Gandhi National Park and he has served as Head of Natural History and Deputy Director of Sanctuary Asia magazine and also as the Natural History Editor for Saevus magazine. A fig tree which stands in Shardul’s building compound is active on twitter (@FigTreeDahisar) and keeps communicating natural history and the tree’s perception of the world around her.

Sucheta Dalal

Journalist & Investor Protection Activist
Ms.Sucheta Dalal is an ambitious and well-known figure in the field of journalism. She has a flair for both Economics and Journalism making her one of India’s best investigative journalists. As a young journalist Dalal worked in premier newspapers and magazines of the country such as the Economic Times and Fortune, India. In 1992 she broke the securities scam, which was one of the biggest financial crisis back then. She went on to co-author a book called ‘The Scam’ in 1993. Her work and contribution to the field of journalism has earned her a place in several important economic forums of the country like the ‘Investor Protection and Education Fund’ set up by the Government of India as well as the ‘Primary Market Advisory Committee’ of the Securities and Exchange Board of India. In 2006 Ms Dalal was awarded the Padma Shri for journalism bringing to light her excellence and expertise in the field.

Sudheendra Kulkarni

Columnist and Politician
Sudheendhra Kulkarni is an acclaimed Indian columnist and politician.An alumnus of the prestigious IIT – Mumbai. He worked as executive editor for Blitz, a Mumbai-based weekly tabloid. He took the place of renowned journalist P. Sainath beautifully transforming the tabloid to a BJP-oriented publication from a left-wing newspaper. As a member of the BJP he has been involved in the ‘India Shining’ campaign and helped the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee write his speeches. He was the Director of the PMO from 1999-2004 and has the honour of riding the inaugural Delhi-Lahore bus. Mr Kulkarni quit the BJP in 2009. He currently heads ORF (Observer Research foundation) in the capacity of chairperson. An ardent follower of Gandhi and an emphatic writer. To compliment the same, Sudheendra Kulkarni penned down “Music of the Spinning Wheel” : Mahatma Gandhi’s manifesto for the internet age.

Varun Gwalani

Varun is 21-year old author of Believe, which was praised highly by Shyam Benegal.He has been a participant in several national seminars and also a panelist at the prestigious Literature Live Festival. He is the creator of a fictional world which he plans to populate in his future novels, innovating and exploring along the way.

Outdoor aficionado and traveller, Zubin Narielwala spends a considerable time reading and discovering various aspects related to nature, outdoors and adventure. His voracious reading, natural oratory and his innate love for the outdoors have culminated into his full time job. His recent stories have a struck a cord with other outdoor enthusiasts.
