In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

The Beasts of the Southeast

Philippine Representatives for Red Bull Race 2014
R-jay graduated with a BA in Community Nutrition and he ranked number one in the Nutrition board exam. He currently works for the government, making sure the Philippines is a more nutritious place. Dave is a graduating student taking up BS Chemical Engineering in UP Diliman. He enjoys writing, singing, and making jokes. With Dave, the pun never stops. Red Calayan is a student who would like to believe he's graduating after this semester with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communication. When he's not crying over his thesis, he enjoys playing drums, hosting, messing around with Photoshop, or using Photoshop to make it appear as if he's traveled the world. But that was just once. For a news show. Long story. He's the drummer for his band Munimuni and he's a DJ for Jam 88.3. Together, they form the team Beasts of the Southeast who represented the Philippines in the Red Bull Can You Make It Challenge 2014!

The Girl + The Bull

The Girl + The Bull, Thea de Rivera and Gab Bustos respectively, are young entrepreneurs and self-taught (and still learning) restaurateur and chef in Manila’s growing food industry. At their early twenties, they’re running both The Girl + The Bull and 12/10 restaurants and continue to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs.

Billie Dumaliang

Brand Builder, Youth Leader
Billie Dumaliang is a multi-awarded young leader at the intersection of business and entrepreneurship, culture, and impact. Her core values of integrity, innovation, and collaboration have led her to win several national accolades such as the Most Outstanding Jose Rizal Model Student of the Philippines in 2014 from the Knights of Rizal and one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines of 2014 from CHED and Malacanang Palace. Among her notable projects are Coconelas, a social enterprise start up that won the Filipino Youth Innovation contest championship in 2013, and BloggedIn: The First ASEAN Blogathon, a tech and communications-oriented platform that gained support from the White House and President Obama through the YSEALI program.

Jen Horn

Entrepreneur, Writer, Designer, Founder & Chief Collaborator of Muni
Jen Horn is a writer and producer focused on creativity, sustainability, wellness and design. She is the founder of Muni, a collaborative community and creative marketing company for mindful living. Through Muni's events, social media, and newsletter, she encourages a socially and environmentally conscious lifestyle where we think more about how we shop, eat, travel, and more, and she continues to build a support network for people who would like to make better choices. She is the Manila ambassador for 99U by Behance, a creative’s resource on Making Ideas Happen, and a member of the Manila hub of the Global Shapers, the youth arm of the World Economic Forum. She is inspired by diving, good design, handwoven textiles, and dreamers who are doers.

PJ Lanot

TV and Events Host; Film, TV and Voice Actor; Restaurateur, Motivational Speaker
Fresh from taking Management of Communications Technology as an Ateneo scholar, he was a Media Strategist with the country's largest media agency, Starcom MediaVest, handling accounts for JG Summit, Unilab and Del Monte. Going fully independent, he hosted TV shows and national events with Unilever, Universal Robina and the DepEd. He also played lead and support roles in independent films and GMA Network Teleseryes, and works with giant Corporate Clients for voice projects and events. He owns and manages Pino Restaurant, Pipino Vegetarian, Pi Breakfast & Pies, The Burger Project, Hillside Cafe & Juice Bar, and Brgy. Bagnet in Quezon City and Ortigas. He is a Leadership, Marketing and Communications Speaker for DTI; Trainstation; and AIB Training, having spoken from Laoag to Jolo, and in Hong Kong, Myanmar, Laos, Bhutan & East Timor, at an average of a hundred engagements a year. Clientele include BPI, Toyota, San Miguel, DepEd, DOH & DOJ, and schools UP, Ateneo, UST, among others.

Reese Lansangan

Visual Artist, Fashion Designer, Graphic Designer, Musician, Singer-Songwriter
Reese Lansangan is a 24 year old visual artist, graphic designer, fashion designer, musician, and songwriter; all rolled into one convenient sushi. A multi-awarded creative, Reese has received honours for her notable work in the fields of art, design, fashion and music. In 2015, she was chosen as a resource speaker for TEDx British School of Manila. She has also been featured in prestigious local and international publications both print and online, such as Vogue Italia.com, Yahoo News, Preview Magazine, Philippine Star, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Esquire, and Rogue Magazine. In 2011, she earned her first Fine Arts degree in the Ateneo de Manila University, whilst majoring in Information Design. In 2014, she obtained her second degree in Fashion Design & Marketing from SoFA Design Institute. Reese's body of work is heavily influenced by childhood, science, Asian iconography, and pop culture, branded with a hint of humour.

Shaira Luna

Photographer, Promil Kid Alumna
Shaira Luna is driven by curiosity, imagination, and the incessant need to create. A self-taught photographer who has been working professionally since 2007, Shaira has a surreal, playful style that bends towards daydreams, memories, and storytelling. Growing up, she excelled in academics and music, and was on the way to becoming one of the country's youngest doctors upon entering BS Human Biology (a pre-medicine course) at the age of 13. A few years later, however, she discovered photography with a simple point and shoot camera while on a break from university - eventually allowing her to find her real passion. "Photography was something I simply enjoyed and pursued without too many aspirations in mind, so it was a slow yet extremely valuable learning curve."

Tokwa Peñaflorida

Visual Artist
Tokwa Penaflorida graduated from UP diliman with a degree in Fine Arts, major in Visual Communication, 2010. He published 4 children's books and is working on the 5th one. He worked as an art director in an advertising agency before but decided to pursue his career as a freelance professional illustrator and gallery artist. Tokwa has been featured in several local and international magazines, newspapers, television, and blogs for his art since then. He also had exhibits here and abroad. Featured as one of Manila's top illustrators in 2013 by The Philippine Star. He also contributes to local newspapers and magazines from time-to-time.
