In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alex Kwizera

Illustrator and Painter
Growing up, Alex Kwizera never heard songs sang about being an artist but always a doctor, engineer or teacher. He is now working on a children's book on folk tales of Somalia, a Rwandan super hero comic book on fighting crime, and MIXA kids; an online platform for stories written by children for fellow children across East Africa.

Audrey Dralega

Educationist
Describing herself as ‘Educator; enthusiastic about people and potential’, Audrey Dralega is currently Primary Headteacher of Rainbow International School and was described by Good Schools Guide International as being “universally credited for maintaining and building on Rainbow Primary’s well-established reputation.” Her work in raising academic standards in the school is widely acknowledged and this she attributes to the relentless pursuit of excellence - enabling teachers to explore their own potential and that of the children they teach. In her TEDx Talk, Audrey speaks about what sort of education will maximize the potential to learn and, most importantly, apply knowledge?

Richard Semanda

Educationist
Richard Semanda is Professional Teacher and the Executive Director and promoter of the Geriatric Respite Care Foundation – Uganda (G.R.C.F-U). He is a partial trainer of health and non-health professionals at Hospice Africa – Uganda and senior volunteer from 1998 to date. Trained at the International Institute on Ageing, UN– Malta. Conducts training programs in Gerontology in Uganda and currently is carrying out a research with WHO on the Health Experiences of Older Women and Men in Africa (Towards Age-Friendly Cities / Communities). He has been a presenter and speaker on various occasions on Gerontology and Palliative care conferences at both local and International level. Chairman Choice for Children Foundation Netherlands Uganda and Chairman Rise and Shine Dyslexic Organization (RASDO) an organization for Children with specific Learning Difficulties. He is pursuing B.A in Public Administration and Management at Kampala International University.

Sabrina Kitaka

Medical Doctor
Currently a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health at Makerere University College of Health Sciences, Sabrina Kitaka is committed to teaching adolescent medicine to health care providers who care for teens with the goal of helping to improve the care they deliver and the overall health and wellness of their adolescent patient.

Yunus Masaba

Youth Enterpreneur
At 23 years old, Yusuf is the CEO at Mas Consults, the Executive Director at Uganda Young Entrepreneurs League, and the Director at Blue Magic Inc. Yunus believes the future of Uganda’s education needs much more than “just sitting in a lecture room”
