Why you should listen

Yann LeCun's research on neural networks and computer vision laid the groundwork for much of the technology that's becoming integral to our lives, from self-driving cars to facial recognition. He is VP and chief AI scientist at Facebook and was the founding director of Facebook AI Research and the NYU Center for Data Science. His research interests include machine learning and artificial intelligence with applications in computer vision, natural language understanding, robotics and computational neuroscience.

LeCun is best known for his work in deep learning and the invention of the convolutional network method, which is widely used for image, video and speech recognition. He is the recipient of the 2018 ACM Turing Award (with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio) for his work on deep neural networks.
