Virginia Smith is an assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering and a principle investigator in the Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems, where her research focuses on flooding dynamics in urban settings.

Why you should listen

Dr. Virginia Smith has research projects spanning the globe, and has been instrumental in deepening the scientific communities understanding of anthropogenic influences on flooding, fluvial geomorphology and sediments through computational modeling. Prior to coming to Villanova, Smith worked in the field of international development in Asia, the South Pacific and Afghanistan, where she oversaw projects related to climate change, water infrastructure and water resource management.
