Tim Nevius is a leading sports lawyer and college athlete advocate.

Why you should listen

Tim Nevius has been at the forefront of college sports issues since shortly after his own college baseball career at the University of Dayton, where he also attended law school. After graduating first in his law school class, he joined the NCAA as an investigator where he helped lead high-profile enforcement cases against major college sports programs.

Thereafter, he earned an LLM with honors from Columbia Law School before establishing a college sports practice at the law firm of Winston & Strawn in New York. In that role, Nevius helped initiate and lead landmark litigation against the NCAA to challenge athlete compensation restrictions. Since then, he formed a one-of-a-kind sports law practice dedicated to representing college athletes and founded the College Athlete Advocacy Initiative, a nonprofit dedicated to athlete representation and college sports reform.

Nevius has been involved in state and federal lobbying efforts to advance ground-breaking legislation for college athlete rights and is a regular speaker on college sports issues. He has appeared on ESPN Outside the Lines, HBO Real Sports, NBC Sunday Today, NPR All Things Considered, and his work has been featured in several leading media outlets.
