Rufus Wainwright is one of the great vocalists, songwriters and composers of his generation.

Why you should listen

Praised by The New York Times for his "genuine originality," Rufus Wainwright has lived a life immersed in music. The New York-born, Montreal-raised musician has released ten studio albums and three live albums, including the Grammy-nominated Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall.

Although his 2020 album, Unfollow the Rules, was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category, Wainwright refuses to be pigeonholed into any one genre of music. Restlessly imaginative, he has written two operas, numerous songs for movies and TV and is currently working on his first musical. He has collaborated with an eclectic group of artists including Elton John, Burt Bacharach, Joni Mitchell, Jessye Norman and producer Mark Ronson, among many others.
