In addition to her day job as a tenured associate professor of epidemiology, Olivia Affuso hosts an online wellness support group called the Black Magic Trail Sisters, which is a tribe of women focused on daily movement, healthful eating and mental well-being. Over the past 10 years, she has completed numerous ultramarathons including several 100-mile events. She provides service to local, regional and national organizations, including the Birmingham Ultra Trail Society, the Freshwater Land Trust, the GrassROOTS Community Foundation, the Council on Black Health and the American College of Sports Medicine.
