Miguel Goncalves is a private market investor at American Securities LLC. He also works with The Salto Project, a nonprofit organization founded by TED Fellow Guido Núñez-Mujica to help Venezuelans emigrate from the country and rebuild their lives abroad. Goncalves previously worked at AVALT, a family investment office, and at the Boston Consulting Group.

A 2011 Bezos Scholar, Goncalves has earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Cambridge as a Paul Mellon Fellow and a bachelor's in physics from Yale College, where he won the Hart Lyman Prize as the highest ranked student in his class. Outside of investment, he is a classically trained bassoon player, orchestral conductor and comic.
