Max Rashbrooke's work focuses on two of the most urgent tasks facing the world: how to renew our systems of democracy and reduce growing economic disparities to have the foundation for a flourishing and harmonious life.

Why you should listen

Max Rashbrooke is a New Zealand-based but globally connected writer and researcher. 

Currently the J. D. Stout Fellow at Victoria University of Wellington, he has written and edited numerous works, including Government for the Public Good: The Surprising Science of Large-Scale Collective Action and the best-selling work Inequality: A New Zealand Crisis.

Although writing is at the heart of everything he does, he works across multiple media, collaborating with people like the award-winning cartoonist Toby Morris on works such as the Wealth-Inequality Tower and data visualisation expert Keith Ng on the Inequality Calculator. 

Rashbrooke is also a senior associate of the Institute for Governance and Policy Studies, with work in outlets such as The Guardian and Prospect magazine, and appearances as a regular commentator in the New Zealand media.
