Drummer Ian Chang describes his creative process as being the product of "third culture" -- a pan-cultural awareness born of the nomadic life of a transcontinental touring musician. Born in Hong Kong, Chang spent a decade stationed in New York City, performing as both a solo artist and band member (of Son Lux and Landlady). He's now based in Dallas, Texas.Chang's first full-length album, Belonging, features nine largely instrumental pop songs built using a machine learning software called Sensory Percussion, from the company Sunhouse. Intimate melodies form the basis of bubbling, melodic and memorable tracks to create a new flavor of electronica that's right for the times.
