As CEO and cofounder of the Equimundo Center for Masculinities and Social Justice, Gary Barker is a leading global recruiter — enlisting men to get involved in the quest for gender equality. Since 2011, his organization has promoted male participation in creating a new society built on values such as empathy and understanding.

An Ashoka Fellow, Barker has coordinated partnerships in conflict-affected settings, including work on community-based trauma support and restorative justice in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Balkans, the US and Brazil. A passionate advocate for the role of all genders in social justice, he has advised the UN, the World Bank, national governments, international foundations and corporations on proactive measures designed to establish equitable organizations and societies.
