Avinash Persaud's career spans finance, academia and public policy. As special envoy on investment and financial services to Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados, he advocates for the role of finance in climate protection. He was instrumental to the development of Mottley's Bridgetown Initiative, an ambitious proposal to boost investment in climate action and transform the financial system, and his pragmatic solutions have received significant global support from both the developed and the developing world.
Persaud is an emeritus professor of Gresham College in the UK. He previously held senior roles at J.P. Morgan, UBS, State Street, GAM London Limited, Elara Capital PLC and RBC Barbados. He is a former governor of London School of Economics, the 2010 president of the British Association for the Advancement of Science and was elected trustee of the Global Association of Risk Professionals and the Royal Economics Society.
