Why you should listen

Alyssa-Amor Gibbons describes herself as an "architeer," a combination of architect and engineer with a hearty dash of green design principles mixed in. Creating buildings with energy efficiency at their core, she seeks to infuse beauty and elegance into sustainably built environments. Gibbons believes that, in our efforts to build shelter for ourselves, we should nonetheless make sure we step lightly and respectfully on the land. With a master's degree in structural engineering and architecture, Gibbons has worked on projects throughout the Caribbean and the UK. She is a champion of net-zero building practices and virtual architectural modeling, which allows designers to drill down to the tiniest details before laying a single brick. "My passion is for delivering architecture that tells a story of consideration, environmental consciousness, energy efficiency and resilience," she says.
