Our theme this year is Resiliency through Innovation; this theme was derived and inspired by the Code Red series published in the Hamilton Spectator several years ago. We recognize that the downtown core is associated with poor economic, health, and social outcomes, but there are many in Hamilton that refuse to believe that this means the downtown Hamilton core is beyond redemption. Our vision for this event is to promote and highlight the innovative activities, ideas, and programs that local Hamiltonians are pursuing in order to build local resilience; we want to show that there are amazing things happening in Hamilton, and bring together leaders from different sectors of society to can work together and spur new ideas to better the city we all live in and work.
The event took place on March 2, 2014 and our delegates braved the snow to come out and be inspired by our speakers. Our speaker topics ranged from learning about the IT sector in Hamilton, advocating for equality for the transgendered population, learning about self-expression through art, pushing ourselves to benefit others in our community, hearing about traffic circles and lastly, being inspired by local stories of resilience in Hamilton.
We want to thank all of our local partners who have supported us in making this event possible.
