At our TEDxBarcelonaSalon events we foster networking, dialog and the discussion among all members of TEDxBarcelona. In order to achieve this we meet once a month and listen to an interesting talk. After watching the talk we discuss about the presented subject using the socratic dialog. In order to make this event effective we limit the number of attendees.

Our July-TEDxBarcelonaSalon event took place on Monday, 2nd of July at 18:45 at the library Excellence (C/ Balmes 191).

Do religions encourage women to have more babies?

Since many years, the well known and recognized Hans Rosling analyzes demographic data in developing countries. In his talks he presents this data in a very visual forma. Recently, he as been nominated (according to the TIME Magazine) as one of the 100 most influential persons on earth.
Among other subjects, Hans investigated recently the correllation between the number of babies per woman in different countries with the rate of people believing in religion in these countries.

At our event we showed his talk (in english) where Hans Rosling presented the results of his investigation. Hans gave this talk in April this year in Doha, Qatar.
After watching his talk together we discussed about the presented results among all of us.
As always, we had the philosopher Humberto Schwab who moderated the discussion (in spanish) using the socratic dialogue. We finished the event with networking, cava and tapas.
