TEDxMa’an is organized by a passionate Jordanian who -as TED team- believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.
This privately organized TED event will take place in Ma’an at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University on June 23rd, 2012, and will adapt the theme of “Creativity in remote areas in Jordan, Ma’an as an Example”.
This full day event will contain inspirational, attractive, talentful, thoughtful, and life-story talks by outstanding successful, talented, innovators, doers, and entrepreneur people from Ma’an and other remote areas of Jordan. We at TEDxMa’an offer a dais to carefully chosen speakers to speak about their success stories, their talents, their thought about the future of Ma’an, and their entrepreneurship and pioneer lives, along with heart to heart performings and a creative gallery.

Abdel Razzaq Al-Muhtaseb

Mr. Abed Al-Razzaq holds a master’s degree in law and he is working in the government sector in addition to his chairmanship of the Center for Life Makers Association. Mr. Abed Al-Razzaq is an activist and trainer in the field of human rights. In addition; he has a great interest in the education sector especially in remote areas. One of Mr. Abed Al-Razzaq activities is “For You” initiative; an initiative for education in remote areas which has been prized in the World Economic Forum by His Majesty King Abdullah II being one of the ten projects qualified for the final King Abdullah II Award for Youth innovation and Achievement of 1700 project made out for the prize. Mr. Abed Al-Razzaq is currently working on a program of learning through play.

Bilal Raslan

Belal is a passionate entrepreneur and community activist. He has a B.Sc. degree in computer science and he is currently working as a director/founder of Quality Partners™, a leading software quality consulting company. After succeeding as an entrepreneur, Belal decided to carry out a local initiative that supports innovative and entrepreneurial thinking among youths; consequently he initiated “Trip to Innovation” an NGO to support spreading “innovation culture” and “social entrepreneurship” among the youth of Jordan.

Nesreen Abu Rumman

Mrs. Nesreen is a wife and mother of 4 children; she holds a high school degree which she earned after failing five times in the national exams (Tawjihi). After that; she started her activities in different fields: she volunteered at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund and founded and managed an educational puppet mobile theater for children. Mrs. Abu Rumman obtained a license to train trainers from the British Cultural Attaché about the concepts of active citizenship and trained 150 people from her region. The latter produced 25 initiatives such as directing a documentary film and establishing a theater in her region that discusses her region issues. H.E Dr. Maher Madadha

Dr. Maher Madadha has over twenty five years of solid experience in Economy, Finance, administration, Strategic planning, local and international commercial procedures, international contracting, economical studies, feasibility studies, and decision modeling. Dr. Madadha was the Minister of Public Sector Development, Secretary General of The Coordination Commission of Social Solidarity (CCSS), Secretary General of The Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation, Advisor at The Prime Ministry and a board member for many corporations, companies and banks. Dr. Madadha holds Ph.D. Degree in Finance (2009), Master’s Degree in Accounting and Finance (1996), and B.Sc. in Business and Economics (1983). He also attended numerous high level training programs in internationally recognized institutions.

Mohammad S-heimat

Mohammad is a student in the tenth grade and lives in a remote area in Kerak. He carried out a project in which he invented a device to monitor earthquakes; the project’s steps were mostly done at home with minimum resources and maximum efforts and strength. Mohammad will demonstrate his life’s most important stations and his path to success along with his future dreams.

H.E Eng. Mohammad Al-Khraisha

Engineer Mohammad is a Senior Manager of Engineering & Development Projects, with a Civil Engineering Degree. Eng. Mohammad worked in his early career in execution & maintenance of residential buildings, as well as a supervising engineer in the Armed Forces. Eng. Mohammad joined RSS in 1998 and became Head of Structural Projects Management Unit there in 2003. In 2006; Eng. Mohammad became the North Regional Manager in Enhanced Productivity Centers (IRADA), and later the Middle Regional Manager since 2009. Eng. Mohammad has respectful experience in Estimating & Costing, Supervision & Follow Up, Contracts, Labor, and Planning.

Iman Jayyusi

Mrs. Eman Jayousie is working as a trainer at ASK for Human Capacity Building. Mrs. Al Jayousie is interested in education and training and is a skilled communicator, persuasive and adaptable, self-motivated with high energy, and has focus and continuous desire for learning and growth. Mrs. Eman has an excellent experience in content development in training & educational field with creative renewable ideas. She was responsible for designing new Extra curricula in education that develop creativity & life skills for students mainly less fortunate ones.

Anas Hammad

Anas Hammad was born in Baqa'a Refugees Camp in Amman and finished his primary and middle studies at UNRWA schools and finished his high school in 2007 and got the highest mark in his region. Accordingly; he was accepted in the Faculty of Medicine & Surgery at Mu’tah University, and now he is in the final year. During the school he participated in many competitions such as creative expression & mathematics &e got the first order even though he did not have the guidance required for such competitions like the rest of the participants. Anas believes that the human can do anything he wants if he has the intent to do it. Mr. Hammad will demonstrate extremely turning point stations in his life.

Abdullah Kfaween

Mr. Abdullah Al-Kfaween studied journalism and media at the University of Petra and works as a reporter in “Ro’ya” (one of the Jordanian TV channels). Abdullah graduated in "2011". He carried out several profitable projects; the first project was establishing a company for smart multi-use furniture, and then started a project for manufacturing the first Jordanian desert cars. After a very hard and serious work he and his partner finished manufacturing the car, but the success of the project proved to them that they are able to manufacture a better model next time they work on such a project, and they are!

Abeer Abu Touq

Abeer Graduated from Yarmouk University where she studied management and marketing, she decided to practice journalism by writing in news websites and local newspapers. She writes articles, short stories and investigations in local newspapers since 2000. Abeer worked for Ad-Dostour newspaper for more than 5 years during which she wrote hundreds of stories of the successes of Jordanian young people within and outside the Kingdom. She adores volunteer work, so she is a main volunteer in “Injaz” Program since 2007, and she is a volunteer in (Madrasati) initiative. Now, Abeer is responsible for the social networking channels "Facebook, YouTube and Twitter" for the Jordanian initiative (Taalileh), and is a very active blogger. Abeer writes in various topics, has many followers, visitors and admirers.

Abdullah Al-Akayleh

Mr. Abdullah is an activist, researcher, and author in youth related issues, volunteering and social activities. Abdullah holds the award of best volunteer project in the Middle East in 2003 and is the founder of (Jordanian Commission for Youth) and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the years 2007-2010. He is a lecturer in youth work, and holds a TOT certificate (Training of Trainers) and is rated one of the best training managers in the Arab region. Mr. Al-Akayleh is also a trainer in communication skills and time management. Abdullah launched some initiatives including: (Hayatak Amanah) which aims to reduce the incidence of suicide, (yes, I can) which aims to stimulate the youth to achieve their dreams, and (Jordan: One Home), and more.

Asyah Almufti

Mrs. Asyah is the owner of Jordan Oasis Beauty Center, the first and only ladies fitness center in Ma’an. Mrs. Asyah holds a Diploma Degree in Library Management, and worked in the Ministry of Education for 17 years. Now she works at Al-Hussein bin Talal University as a supervisor for practical training for the graduates. Mrs. Asyah established the project “Jordan Oasis Beauty Center” in the year 2007 and raised its capital to around 25000 JDs now

Suhaib Al-Khwaldeh

Suhaib Al-Khawaldeh is a Jordanian entrepreneur mostly known for being the founder and CEO of ILG (Integrated Leadership Group), which currently holds some projects like Paintball Amman, I Know Business competition (Annual event) and more. Suhaib has Post graduate degree in International accounting, and finance postgraduate diploma degree and a bachelor degree in accounting. In September 2010; Suhaib started Youth Educational Development -YED- initiative to provide an alternate solution in educational methods. Suhaib used this initiative as a base for gathering an effective team that all of its members share a dream of achieving a true evolution in the educational methods and students' lives, until he's ready to achieve his big dream

Sultan Al-Shwabkeh

Sultan is a 15 years old student who likes art in general, he lives in Madaba city where he struggles to find the support he needs for his passion to art. He is an excellent student at school, and has a lot of activities in and outside school. Sultan’s favorite hobby is acting and directing in the theater field. Now he is an interviewer in “Tollab” FM which is a new radio for students and his program “collage” talks about art. Also,Sultan is a student in the national center for culture and art

Richard Mckinney

With an international background in Youth and Community Development, Richard joined the U.S. Peace Corps in 2010. In 2011; this work was merged with that of the Equal Opportunity Initiative as their Project Lead in various community development initiatives. With an educational background and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology, Political Studies, and Philosophy; the research he led during this time caused the recognition of his role as a global citizen, and the necessity of his responding to this critical responsibility

Anas Battah

Anas firstly started with organizing events in his school while he was a normal member on a gaming client. With the dedication needed for a new gaming community in Jordan he started to grow to become the MENA region manager of one of the gaming companies and organize local and global gaming events such as WCG Jordan and RGI.

Mohammed Al-Soeidat

Mohammed holds a B.Sc. degree in communications engineering from Al-Hussein Bin Talal University and is training at radio Ma`an for two months now. Mohammed had training about Image processing kings dominion for four month in USA. Mohammed carried out a project named “Car and Home Intelligence Security”; a project done to enable users to make calls and send messages by global system for mobile (GSM) which is standard originally to describe a digital circuit switch network optimized for full duplex voice technology. Mohammed is an active member in All Jordan Youth Committee and is interested in all kinds of voluntary work.

Mo'ayyad Al-Momani

Mo’ayyad was born and lives in a remote area in Ajloun. Currently, Mo’ayyad is studying Civil Engineering at Al-Hussien Bin Talal University in Ma’an. He is a member of the “Forum of Jordan” which aims to prepare leaders. Mo’ayyad’s speech is about inspiring local success stories.

Samah Abu Darweesh

Mrs. Samah is the owner of Ladies Beauty Salon in Ma’an. Mrs. Samah went against odds and fought into this career since 1995 where she established Ladies Beauty Salon with a capital of only 5500 JDs, and now its capital touches 47000 JDs. Mrs. Samah won King Abdullah II Prize for Entrepreneurship and Excellence for the year 2011, and the prize of Jordan River – City Bank for the year 2012. Mrs. Samah is a social activist, and the chairman of (Ahbab Allah) Orphanage Association, and is also a member of the Business Women Forum and a member of (Dar Altamyyoz Publications).
