In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Founder of Butterflies, that conceptualized and initiated Children’s Cooperatives (Children’s Development Khazana & Child Health Cooperative) that offer various education programs on topics such as life skills, democratic values, financial management with the aim of promoting safe and healthy living among children and communities and enable them to be responsible decision makers. Rita came to share the idea of empowering children to operate a children public bank and give education in child health.

Sara Al Mahrizi

Sara is a Software Engineering Student from Higher College of Technology. Although she is only 23 years old, her dreams are big and her teams’ (Ithar Ba Makalif and Muthla Al-Wahibi) vision is unique to their peers. She had many choices for her graduation project, exploiting technology was her goal but she sought one that can be sustainable and add value to the community with just a snap of a finger. She shared her journey in developing the volunteers mobile application for Al-Rahma association using hybrid technology.

Yasser Bin Ali Al Hadi

Community developer
He had the vision of building a society characterized by individuals with social responsibility and productive behaviour, so he of the first people in Oman, who since 2005, introduced the idea of volunteerism specifically in "Al Swadi village" in the Wilayat of Barka in southern Batinah. Despite all the resistance and difficulties he faced from the public and culture, he managed to conquer it all and he is still progressing. Now, he is the Head of Al Sawadi Volunteer Team sharing his idea on building a foundation to empower and promote not only the importance of volunteerism but the management of volunteer work to make it more impactful.

Zaina Kanaan

Social Entrepreneur
Co-founder of Charicycles. Zaina’s initiative ‘Charicycles’ that upgrades vintage bicycles in a quest to conserve the environment and give back to children in refugee camps. She shared her passion for cycling that she turned into a social enterprise, calling for bridging between a business with social impact and redefining ones’ purpose to life. Zaina is also a co-founder and marketing director of numerous other homegrown startups that focus on community building and social impact.
