Giuseppe Natta

Evironment Farmer A chemical engineer by profession, Giuseppe Natta has dealt at length with the creation of companies that develop production systems and services. The most famous among these is Ecodeco, relying on their own facilities within Italy or third party facilities when abroad. Another well dealing with 2 million tons of waste per year. Since the mid-90s, dealing with peri-urban rural areas, in order to exploit the great potential for providing new services to the urban population (www.neorurale.net).

Valentina Bosetti

Innovation economist. "Producing clean energy at low cost is a complex and exciting challenge, which constantly requires new technological solutions and attentive political strategies." This is a consideration put forth by Valentina Bosetti, a senior researcher at the FEEM (Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei) in Milan, where she studies how new ideas are turned into technologies in order to achieve clean energy and what decisions are needed to favor the market. For her studies, she was awarded a grant from the prestigious ERC (European Research Council). (www.feem.it)

Paola Coggi Testori

Diirector General Health and Consumer Protection, European Union Biologist at the University of Milan, with a Masters degree in Ecotoxicology, she is Director-General in the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Health and Consumers since 2010, . Besides being part of the Commission, in the course of her career she has also been Director for Food Safety since March 2000. She was previously Advisor for consumer health in the Cabinet of Commissioner Emma Bonino and was in charge of the research programmes on life sciences, environment and energy in the Cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Filippo Maria Pandolfi. Pierfrancesco Diliberto

TV Author Initially launched by the programs 'Candid and Video Show' and “Le Iene” on Italia 1 ', Pierfrancesco Diliberto (aka Pif) started his own program in 2007 called 'Il testimone' (the witness) later renamed” Il testimone VIP” (the witness VIP), broadcast on MTV. It reached its fourth season in 2011 and focused on the close and detailed account of the daily lives of celebrities from the world of sport, politics and entertainment. As director, he has just begun shooting his second film called La Mafia uccide solo d’estate (The Mafia only kills in summer' (ondemand.mtv.it).

Dario Pasquarella

Art of the Deaf Teacher Graduated in Cultural Anthropology, and likes to consider himself an anthropologist of the deaf culture. As a freelancer, he holds workshops in theater and film, based on sign and body language. Deeply convinced of the importance of visual language, he pursues his mission to show the potential, not only to the medically deaf, but also,and perhaps especially, to the hearing. Sensitive to the new opportunities that technological innovations can offer, he seized the force of the communication revolution with the inauguration of Internet and its numerous and unprecedented socio-cultural connection scenarios. He was recently appointed President of the Compagnia Cine teatro 'Laboratorio Zero' in Rome.

Andrea Segrè

Founder of the Last Minute Market Dean of Faculty and Professor of Comparative and International Agricultural Politics, conceived and developed the 'Last Minute Mark' in 1999, to recover for charitable purposes, goods (food and non-food) that otherwise would have gone unsold. In 2003 the project became a spin off of the University of Bologna, where Segrè is President (www.lastminutemarket.it). In 2010, under the auspices of the European Parliament, he initiated a campaign promoting 'A Year Against Waste', to sensitize the European public opinion on the environmental, economic and social waste of resources. Nicola Greco

Student researcher He is only 19 years old, but he has already won many prestigious, academic competitions. In 2009 he was the winner of Working Capital (a competition organized by Telecom Italy), and this year he won E-Skills (a competition launched by the European Commission) as runner-up in 'Excellent Research in Digital Technology' for a project on the propagation of content on the web. Wired IT included him among the top 10 Italian Digital Natives, while he, fond of social network analysis and the Internet, likens himself to "A knot in an infinite web of relationships ..." Paolo De Castro

Economist Among the leading figures on national and European policies for the agri-food system and rural areas,he is considered the 'Italian father' of Agenda 2000; the major reform of EU agricultural policy by the Community for rural development. On a European level, he distinguished himself as a 'special advisor' of the former President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, by further contributing significantly to the medium-term reform of agricultural policy pursued by the then EU Commissioner Franz Fischler (www. paolodecastro.it).

Michelangelo Pistoletto

Artist He is much more than an artist (one of the most prominent nationally and internationally) Through the Città dell’Arte – Fondazione Pistoletto, he devotes significant resources into putting art into active relation with the different domains of society, in order to inspire and produce responsible transformation of society through creative ideas and projects. Among his most recent creations is an extensive work of land art, called 'Third Heaven', located in a clearing in the forest of Saint Francis in Assisi (www.pistoletto.it).

Industrial designer Offering rare talent, and above all, animated by great passion, Alberto Meda is one of the world’s leading representatives of Italian design. He is a four time winner of the 'Compasso d’Oro'; the oldest and most authoritative global design prize: the first, in 1989 with the series of Lola lamps, the second in 1994 with the Metropoli series, the third in 2008 with the Mix lights (all items made by Luceplan), and the most recent with last year’s teak table manufactured by Alias. Among other accolades, is the Honorary Royal Designer for Industry , RSA London, (2005) and the INDEX Award (2007) for Solar Bottle. The "Light light" chair, "Soft light "chair, “Longframe“ by Alias and "On-Off " have been part of the Design Collection of the New York MOMA since 1994, and the "Mix" by Luceplan was included in 2008.
