The 2017 TEDxP&GSingapore was held at iconic Victoria Theatre in Singapore on the 1st of August 2017. This was the biggest TEDx event yet with over 700 people attending! This year the attendees included Brand, R&D, Finance, Legal and Agency partners.

After the massive lines in the morning were taken care of the event kicked off in spectacular fashion. The Asia President, Suran Suranjan, attended and opened his first TEDx event and provided insights into the “Uncaged” theme for this year. The 16 speakers included artists, creative directors, Paralympians and trailblazers from the tech industry.

This was the year where we literally took flight as well, with the real-life Iron Man!

Alex Vogler

Digital Communications Manager - P&G Beauty
Alex Vogler is Digital Communications Manager for P&G Beauty in APAC. She is currently in charge of the Safeguard brand and Skin & Personal Care executives’ communication. During her previous assignment, Alex made digital pull media integral to SK-II thanks to her unique background: combining a career in marketing with proficiency in pull media - stemming from a short stint in communications - and being a digital native who holds a master’s degree in computer science. Alex is an avid runner and skier, and speaks 6 languages as a result of growing up all around the world.

Ali Jahanshahi

Co-founder and COO – AirGo Design
Dr. Ali Jahanshahi is Co-founder and COO of AirGo Design Pte., Ltd. , a company based in Singapore designing next generation airliner seats to become a game changer in an industry that has remained unchanged since the era of the 1960s. Praised by media in over 15 different countries, collecting numerous grants and awards "The Future of Airline Seating“ company founded in 2013 is also looking at implementing for other mass transportation industries such as rail. Ali received his Doctorate in Organic Chemistry from Oxford University and has been the University of Malaya Industry liaison officer in Kuala Lumpur.

Anita Kapoor

Television host, speaker & activator
Anita Kapoor is a TCK, immigrant, a Singaporean, and a UWCSEA alumni, who also happens to be a television host, speaker and activator. She grew up in Mumbai and moved to Singapore when she was 7. She voices out on issues of equality and is a proud advocate for Pink Dot in Singapore. Anita regularly speaks on personal power and death, and her most recent project was a two week stay in an elder care home to create a social documentary to raise awareness on the system's inadequacies.

Anoushka Beh

Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist & Life Coach.
Anoushka Beh is a Psychologist, Marriage and Family Therapist & Life Coach. She helps her clients to work through their life issues and move towards a state where they are empowered, more aware, and filled with a renewed passion for life. She combines clinical expertise with different techniques such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), EET (Emotional Empowerment Technique) and Mindfulness-based techniques. Anoushka is a regular contributor for a number of publications including Cosmopolitan and Mother and Baby.

Ewa Wojkowska

Co-Founder and COO - Kopernik
Ewa Wojkowska is the Co-founder and COO of Kopernik, an organization providing affordable technologies to remote communities. Previously she worked for the United Nations and the World Bank to empower vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in a number of countries. With Kopernik, Ewa has established distribution channels that engage local civil society organization, funders and investors, enabling community without clean water & electricity access to technologies that address basic needs. Ewa’s outstanding contributions have led to her being recognized as an Ashoka Fellow, an Asia 21 Young Leader, Rutgers University's Social Entrepreneur of the Year, and as one of Advance's 50 emerging women leaders.

Lizi Hamer

Regional Creative Director - Octagon
Lizi Hamer is the regional creative director for Octagon Australia and co-founder of SisuGirls.org an organization that promotes strong, healthy and positive female role models for women and girls. Lizi started out in advertising in McCann Sydney and won her first digital Cannes Lion in her 1st year on the job. After moving to Asia, she worked as a creative in Arcade on remarkable brands such as Heineken, Red Bull, Magnum Ice Cream and Airbnb.

Maggie Lee

Founder of P&G Singapore sustainability team
Maggie Lee is the founding leader P&G Singapore’s 12-member sustainability team and a Senior Scientist working on skincare and external communications. Passionate about the environment, she is also one of the founding members of the P&G internal sustainability innovation platform Latitude 91. Maggie’s background is in food and nutrition sciences and is preparing her final qualifying exam to be a licensed dietician. After her first degree in food science, she started off her full-time career flipping burgers in two burger chains and eventually made her way to become Senior Scientist – P&G Global Beauty BFO and APAC RBU. An avid traveler, Maggie has visited 42 countries to-date and is passionate about communications and languages. Her first ever book about environmentally sustainable lifestyle is to be published in Hong Kong .

Mark Yong

Co-founder Garuda Robotics
Mark Yong is CEO and co-founder at Garuda Robotics, a Robotics and AI company building solutions for traditional industries such as agriculture and infrastructure. Mark was previously a lecturer at Nanyang Technological University where he won the 2013 Nanyang Education award. Garuda Robotics has been recently highlighted as a local smart solution to a global public health problem dealing with a decades-long battle against mosquitoes. One of many applications his company provides.

Min Lee

Classical Violinist
Min Lee is a renowned Singaporean violinist and the program director of Wolfgang Violin Studio. She picked up the violin since she was only two years old and by the time she was 17, she had earned numerous accolades and trained under notable violinists.

Rachel Lim

Co-founder – Love Bonito
Rachel Lim is on Forbes’ first ever “30 Under 30 Asia”2016 list, recognizing the top game changers in 10 different sectors. She is the Co-founder of Love, Bonito an upscale online retailer with in-house designs. She founded Love, Bonito originally with two friends as a blog shop when she was a 19 year old in University. Love, Bonito has grown from selling pre-loved clothes, to importing, and now – to designing and manufacturing their own label. Rachel now heads the design, creative and marketing team for Love, Bonito, which has expanded regionally.

Richard Browning

Inventor & Founder of Gravity Industries
Richard Browning is an inventor who successfully constructed a real life “Iron Man suit” and being dubbed as such by media outlets around the world. He founded Gravity industries Ltd a "human propulsion technology start-up," whose mission "is to re-imagine the future of manned flight.“ The company is behind the suit that can travel at a speed of up to 450km/h and currently allows for a human to fly for up to 12 minutes. Richard is a former Royal Marine Reservist and runs ultra marathons.

Samuel Tan

Classical Violinist
Samuel Tan is a11 year old protégée and an award winning violinist in his own right, having won amongst others, the 2014 Grand Postacchini Prize at the Andrea Postacchini Competition. This award goes to best overall violinist in the entire competition.

Shirlyn Tan

Lead Singer - Shirlyn & The UnXpected
Shirlyn Tan is one of Singapore's most successful singers and regularly performs with the UnXpected, at Wala Wala in Holland Village. Aside from being the frontwoman of Shirlyn & The UnXpected, Shirlyn also plays the role of songwriter. Her debut original album, Newfound Jealousy was released in 2007. She has won 2 Power 98 Singapore music awards. Shirlyn also juggles being a yoga instructor at Bikram Yoga, and routinely practises CrossFit.

Steve Winter

NatGeo Photographer
Steve Winter is an American photojournalist for National Geographic and has stalked animals, especially big cats, across the Globe in search of pictures of these magnificent creatures. His dream of traveling as a photographer for National Geographic began when he was very young. His first photography teacher was his father, who also gifted him his first camera for his 7th birthday. Steve is the author of the book “Tigers Forever: Saving the World’s Most Endangered Cat” and has received numerous awards like the BBC’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Steven Kan

Steven has worked with almost a dozen early-stage companies as an executive, advisor, and investor and has a true passion for incubating starts-up. As Google's head of AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) Global Strategy, Steven is responsible for identifying new AR and VR growth opportunities and ensuring Google is well positioned for long-term success in the AR and VR industries. Steven studied Applied Physics at Yale University and has an MBA from UCLA Anderson.

Warren Tseng

CEO - UBER Singapore
Warren Tseng is the current General Manager of Uber in Singapore, after working on building Uber’s business across SEA including Indonesia and Thailand as an International Launcher. Since beginning operations in Singapore in 2013, Uber has grown from occupying a room the size of a "closet" with only three employees to over 300 staff, in an office covering 8,000 sq. ft. across two floors of Guoco Tower in Tanjong Pagar. Warren holds an MBA and two engineering degrees from USA.

William Tan

Paralympian, Neuroscientist & Physician
Dr. William Tan is an Athlete, Neuroscientist and Physician. After he contracted polio at the age of two leaving him paralysed from the waist down, he represented Singapore at the 1988 Seoul Paralympics, won 3 gold medals at the Asian-Pacific Games, and completed numerous marathons including the first North Pole marathon in a wheelchair. Realizing that winning medals, trophies or prize money should not be an end to itself but a means to further goodness he is championing awareness and use of his story for fundraising. His journey of resilience and reinventing oneself to scale greater heights in the face of adversity continues to inspire many individuals.
