TEDxKIMEP is the first student initiated TEDx event in Central Asia. Through inspiring hours of short talks from speakers from various walks of life, we aim to promote volunteerism, compassion for society as well as an adventurous spirit. TEDxKIMEP is currently managed by a team of students and a dedicated group of volunteers. It is supported by KIMEP.

Kassiet Omarova

Kassiet graduated from Almaty Technological University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Kazakh Economics University. She had also been working as a business-consultant and is also an artist. Apart from that, Kassiet has had over five years of working experience in NGOs that serves people with disabilities, as a Project Coordinator and Vice-President. Kassiet was also in Japan, where she participated in the JICA Leadership Development Program for People with Disabilities 2010. In addition, she had worked on several social projects directed at the people with disabilities. Currently she is Executive Director of Arzhan Social Fund.

Alisher Yelikbayev

Are you familiar with Afftor.kz or V[o]x Populi? Then you may be aware that our speaker had pioneered these internet projects. Alisher Yelikbayev is a professional journalist, blogger and a specialist in PR field with a wide-ranging working experience. Mr. Yelikbayev is an active member of Kazakhstan internet community.

Sun Soon Chuah

Chuah Sun Soon is an undergraduate at the Singapore Management University (SMU). In 2006, he volunteered at the Singapore International Foundation (SIF) as a project coordinator to coordinate tsunami relief efforts in Sri Lanka for 2 months. In 2009, he volunteerd as a welfare project manager for prisoners in New Delhi, India. He is due to embark on a 1200km cycling trip around Central Asia on his homemade bamboo bicycle to explore sustainable social enterprise opportunities in the region.

Shakhnoza Yakubova

Enthusiast of Global Education, Shakhnoza Yakubova invests her passion and expertise in bridging education across the world. With her cleverness and energy, she is all about turning the impossible into bright opportunities – especially for those who could not even dream about it. Higher education administration expert, graduate of Kent State University, Shakhnoza, along with being KIMEP’s outstanding Director of Registry, manages her own non-profit Academic Resource and Career Consulting Center for minority village children and high school students. Educator, social worker, and personal consultant, Shakhnoza has a vision to share with what the world needs now.

Sergey Sek

Sergey is the founder of the conference “Business Insights”, which brings together Russian-speaking business community worldwide and editor of ShouldKnow project in Almaty. Together with a team of like-minded people he helped to develop any social and business projects hence he believes that a sustainable and long-term growth is possible only in a strong community. He also works as Development Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan in New York, he is developing the project Gatsby NY in the CIS and is a founding member of several business start-ups.
