Susant Pattnaik

High school student who has invented a technology using which the blind, deaf and dumb can perform day to day activities (like normal people) via breathing! Has got many national awards and recognitions along with one International award. Has been appreciated by INK (in association with TED).

Natbar Sarangi

A seed farmer Dr. Sarangi continues to find, save and share his indigenous rice seed with local farmers in the state of Orissa. To date he has managed to re-introduce over 350 varieties. But it’s not just about the indigenous rice seed of India or about the survival of a sustainable agriculture system with the knowledge of over ten thousand years. It's about a global phenomenon taking place where a non-sustainable system systematically destroys a sustainable one, where short term profit has the power to overwhelm common sense and the consciousness of many millions, where progress is not progress but the wanton destruction of an eco-system and environment we will never be able to replace. Natabar Sarangi is just one of a growing number of farmers throughout the world who realise that if we do not begin to repair the damage taking place to our agricultural systems and our environment, we will lose not just our cultural identity but our fundamental right to a truly sustainable system of food security.

John Voon Roy

John is, inter alia, a school teacher, Salsa guru, musician (guitarist), adventure traveler, language (Spanish and English) instructor, and most interestingly, a children's poet. Last year he was appointed as a Clinton Fellow at the prestigious American India Foundation (chaired by Bill Clinton), and currently is on a 10 month long assignment to the APV school in Uttarakhandi Himalayas, training the staff in providing an rounded education to some of the most under-privileged children of India. For free. The APV school is built on a model of "alternative education", something John is a proponent of. Prior to this, he has worked in the mountains of Guatemala (2010) and in Jaipur (2009) in similar capacity. From Minnesota, at one remote point of time he was on his way to becoming a priest; left it when he realized how narrow the idea is compared to his philosophical ideals.
