In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amoeba

Amoeba was founded in Budapest in 2010, with the slogan “Music Changes Shape, But Never Loses the Funk.” The band is often found jamming in the city's vibrant music scene, merging funk, future soul, improvisatory jazz, hip‐hop and broken beat instrumentally, often appearing on Slam Poetry stages as well. They are lead by one of the most favoured musicians in the Budapest club scene, bass player and singer Peter Sabák, also known as soloist Dizko Stu, sometimes referred to by his fellow musicians as ‘the String Tsar’, who also appears in various other formations, including Másfél and Akkezdet Phiai. Other band members are the guitarist Viktor Sági, also called VANIS, drummer Levente Boros, also known as Lev Toystore, and keyboardist Szabolcs Bognár, who all team up to play in Fixi4 as well.

Fricska

The ingenious, virtuoso dance ensemble Fricska (meaning flick, i.e. sudden sharp movement) is comprised of dance‐contest winners Ahmed Moussa as artistic director, Gergely Bálint Papp and Máté Bence Papp. Adding their own spin to traditional dynamic folk dances with their own creative and high‐spirited thigh‐slapping, foot‐tapping and hand‐clapping routine, their mission is to make authentic Hungarian folk dance more ‘up to date’ and consequently fashionable, thus reaching out to contemporary audiences. Apart from acquainting and wowing their audiences with the dynamic dances of the Carpathian Basin, including Hungarian, Romanian and Gipsy folklore through their astounding personal achievements and special rhythmic productions, they set the international record by performing 3,937 clacks and strikes in a two‐minute dance session to beat the fastest dance rhythm in the world.

Urban Dance

Szederkényi Zsolt, the Managing Director of Bakelit Multi Art Center co‐founded Urban Dance Team – a contemporary freestyle hip‐ hop dance theatre –together with Gábor Csordás and Róbert Fazekas in 2007. All three of them are professional hip‐hop dancers, dance instructors, winners of international dance competitions and appear in several video clips and shows. Since 2014, Zsolt has been managing the team on his own, members including Gergely Szénási, Gábor Kántor, Gergő Elekes, Szilvia Klinkó and Róbert Karsa. They teach throughout Hungary and regularly organize dance battles, intensive courses and summer dance camps with professional Hungarian and foreign street dancers. They perform at events, festivals, competitions, talent shows and in theatre productions, their repertoire consisting of various styles from few minute productions to full‐length stage shows.

Ákos M.Lőrincz

Lőrincz M. Ákos immunológus, kutató, a Semmelweis Orvostudományi Egyetem Élettani Intézetében tanársegéd, rezidens orvos és ‐többek között‐ a vizsgaidőszakok során tízezrek által használt Wikipedia alapú hallgatói tudásbázis, a Sotepedia egyik atyja.

Alisee de Tonnac

After travelling around the world for a year to set up the first edition of Seedstars World, a global seed stage start‐up competition focusing on emerging markets, Alisée is now managing the company, the flagship brand of the global organisation, which has activities in 65+ emerging markets such as Nigeria, Colombia, Morocco and the Philippines. Alisée graduated from the University of Lausanne in Management and Economics and obtained her MSc in International Management at Bocconi University with the highest honour. She travelled extensively from Singapore to Italy, California to France & Switzerland, She started her career as a product manager for luxury brands at L’Oreal Group, and was a part of the Italian team at Voyage Privé, a leading European start‐up. She was also a member of the Harvard Model Congress Europe, where she won the Award of Excellence and has recently been nominated Innovation Fellow at WIRED UK.

Bori Fehér

A szociális design kérdéseivel foglalkozó építész és kutató nemzetközi programokban vesz részt, valamint társalapítója a MOME fenntarthatósági kutatócsoportjának, az EcoLabnak. Első mesterfokú diplomáját az ELTE Kultúramenedzsment szakán szerezte, majd a MOME Építészet és Designmenedzsment szakjait is elvégezte, jelenleg pedig a MOME Építőművészeti doktori iskola végzős hallgatója.

Catharina Paukner

Catharina is the co‐founder and Chief Scientist of Cambridge Nanosystems Ltd., a company that produces graphene in industrial quantities without compromising on quality. Labelled in the UK media as "The First Lady of Graphene” and one of the eight business leaders to watch in 2015, she is “an amazing scientist with a passion for her work that is infectious”. She received her MSc in Chemistry from the Karl Franzens University in Graz and developed her PhD research in Materials Science at the University of Cambridge. She has been awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in recognition of her role in the design of new nanomaterial manufacturing systems.

Clio Cresswell

Diversity has been a theme in Clio’s life. Born in England, she spent part of her childhood on a Greek island and was later educated in the south of France, studying Visual Art. At the age of 18, she simultaneously discovered the joys of Australia andmathematics, going on to win the University Medal and complete a PhDin mathematics at the University of New South Wales. Clio is passionate about the communication of mathematics. This highly energetic, entertaining and inspiring professor features regularly in the media: appearing on panel shows commenting, debating and interviewing; authoring book reviews and opinion pieces; joining breakfast radio teams and current affair programs; always highlighting the mathematical element to our lives.

Daniele Ganser

One of the most intriguing historians of our times, Daniele Ganser specializes in international history after 1945, geostrategy, secret warfare and intelligence services as well as international politics, focusing on the relationship between energy and politics. He aims to uncover and analyze frequently hidden and dangerous agendas of imperial powers in relation to energy and resources; dynamics that have an enormous impact in shaping our collective future and well‐being.

Éva Szentesi

Felicia Bozóky

Raised in Sweden but born in Hungary, Felicia Bozóky dedicated her life to music and medicine. After her medical studies and her trainings in Mexico and South Africa Felicia is now working as a paediatric surgeon in Stockholm, Sweden. Having met and fallen in love with exotic instruments like ukulele, she now performs on stage from Sweden to Budapest, from clubs to summer festivals.

Hanif Qadir

Hanif Qadir is the CEO of the ActiveChange Foundation. He aims to encourage young people (gang members, football hooligans and religious fanatics) to embrace a positive future and to help youth in danger of becoming radicalized. He is actively involved in advising and assisting senior policy makers, working closely with a wide range of governmental institutions, most of the UK’s Police Authorities, as well as research academics across the globe. At the same time, Hanif and his team are using social media to engage Muslims in condemning ISIS, like in their ‘Not in my name’ campaign.

Kornél Horváth

Laura Kriefman

Laura Kriefman is an architectural choreographer. Her company, The Guerilla Dance Project, specialises in fusing movement and technology. The Bristol‐based artist and her studio work on installations and massive spectacles to reconnect us with our bodies and our environment.

Lexi Mills

Lexi Mills is a multi‐award winning specialist in digital communications and the Managing Director at Manyminds Digital. British‐born but raised in South Africa, Lexi combines technical knowledge, analysis, understanding of the Internet and human behavior.

Mátyás Csiszár

Finnish-born, but raised in Sweden and Germany, Mikael is an editor of Switzerland’s biggest weekly magazine “Das Magazin”. Prior to that he was a staff writer for NZZ FOLIO, and worked as a copywriter for various advertising agencies.

Roman Tschappeler

A graduate from the Zurich University of Arts, Swiss-born Roman is a Biel-based creative producer, consulting and producing various projects ranging from documentary movies and campaigns to art installations, pop music and cook books.

Ryan Weed

The 31‐year‐old Air Force pilot is Co‐founder and CEO of Positron Dynamics, the company that is pioneering the use of antimatter in space propulsion. He has a BA degree in Physics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, a BSc in Engineering & Applied Physics from Columbia University, New York, a PhD from the Centre of Excellence in Antimatter Matter Studies at the Australian National University and is one of 13 fellows at WIRED 2015 Innovation Fellowships recognized for his work in antimatter propulsion.

Szilvia Lubics

A Nagykanizsán élő 42 éves Lubics Szilvia ultramaraton futó: az amatőr hosszútávfutás és ultramaraton szerelmese. A világ egyik legszívósabb futónőjének tartott sportolónő az UltraBalaton kétszeres győztese, a 245,3 km‐es legendás Spartathlon futóverseny háromszoros győztese és kétszeres bronzérmese, ezen kívül hatszoros magyar bajnok, többszörös magyar válogatott, országos csúcstartó és pályacsúcstartó. A Pécsi Egyetemen fogorvosként végzett ultrafutó civilben egy kis településen praktizál, háromgyerekes anyuka. Ezen felül a Megszállottak Klubjának tagja, Zala Megye Díszpolgára, a Nagykanizsa Város Sportjáért díj birtokosa és 2016 januárjában átvehette a Magyar Becsület Rendet is.

Tamás Balogh

A huszonkét éves jazz‐zongorista és zeneszerző a Liszt Ferenc Zeneművészeti Egyetem Jazz Tanszakának hallgatója, de egyénileg és zenekarával is számos figyelemreméltó eredményt ért már el, több szakmai díjat is besöpört, valamint nagyszabású koncerteket adott. A Balogh Tamás Quartet fellépett már a Zeneakadémián, a Művészetek Palotájában, és számos budapesti, vidéki és külföldi jazz klubban. 2015‐ben bekerült az 50 Tehetséges Magyar Fiatal programba, azóta mentorával, Zsédával (Zsédenyi Adrienn) már közös dalt is írtak. Bár gyermekkora óta ösztönösen érdeklődik a zene iránt, a fiatal zongorista‐ zeneszerző csak tizenhárom éves korában kezdett el zenét tanulni. Ekkor nyert felvételt a konzervatórium dob szakára, a jazz azonban hamar magával ragadta, és ráébredt, a zongora és a zeneszerzés közelebb áll szívéhez, így hamarosan átiratkozott zongora szakra.

Yaniv Erlich

Yaniv Erlich is an assistant professor of computer science at Columbia University and a Core Member of the New York Genome Center. It is a joint position, one that aims to bridge the strong computer‐science communities at Columbia with the Genome Center's focused efforts on translating genomic research into patient care. Erlich is a former Fellow at MIT's Whitehead Institute, where he created DNA Sudoku, a sequencing strategy to find rare genetic variations, and lobSTR, a short tandem repeat profiler for personal genomes, while also constructing a genealogy tree linking 13 million people. Has a PhD in genomics and bioinformatics from Watson School of Biological Sciences at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York. He received his B.Sc. in computational neuroscience from Tel‐Aviv University.
