Cecília Amado

The smile is honest and look almost serene. Carioca, born in 1976, the filmmaker Cecilia Amado, for her first feature film, “Capitães da Areia” (Captains of the Sands) - based on the novel by Jorge Amado - went to get her cast in cultural workshops for NGOs working on the periphery of Salvador: Olodum , Ilê Aiyê and Axe. Negra Jho

Training in "Conflict Facilitation" at Findhorn (Scotland) and "Climate Ambassador" in Krogerup Hojskole (Denmark). He´s going to show his vision of how to live simply and be happier.

Verônica Almeida

Where any of us, "normal" people would see a great tragedy of biblical proportions she found an oasis. The now-disabled athlete Veronica Almeida has been a professional physical education, mother of the family, a "normal" person as absolutely most people until she found out that she was carrying a rare disease - "Elhers Danlos Syndrome" - progressive, degenerative and fatal. With the life expectancy of one year in 2007, she found on the sport a way to win yourself, your new and old limitations and now she is an "abnormal" person, absolutely outstanding and a winner (just look she is still alive four years after her " death Foretold”) champion in swimming and in life.

Isabel Gouvêa

The São Paulo citizen that turned a soteropolitana by choice began her career with a passion - Photography. She took the act of shooting as the search for a sensitive testimony and record of the topics which she cared most. Isabel Gouvêa uses her passion for photography as a weapon by the appreciation of cultural expressions and the struggle for a more just and egalitarian society. In NGO- Cipó Interactive Communication - where she coordinates a school of art and technology – seeking, through training in communication and art, the achievement of effective development opportunities for young people from poor communities in Salvador.

tara roberts

Tara Roberts is the founder of Girltank, a global network of young women social-change entrepreneurs under the age of 30. Girltank operates primarily as a virtual hub for young women changemakers from around the world to link with each other, share ideas, develop leadership skills and ultimately, generate progressive and actionable solutions for social problems facing their communities and the world-at-large. To date, girltank has 40 fellows in 15 countries and two budding physical hubs in the U.S. and India. Girltank also recently won the 2010-2011 Youtopia Grant from Free Range Studios, a preeminent U.S. design firm named to Fast Company magazine’s Fast50 list of “leaders, innovators and tech pioneers for the for-profit sector.” And Girltank is currently unveiling a new, two-year series of workshops on the how-tos of social-change entrepreneurship for students at Spelman College, ranked by Forbes magazine as one of the top 10 women’s colleges in the U.S. During her trip to Brazil, Tara hopes to find cool South American female changemakers to support through girltank!

pooja warier

Pooja is the co-founder and Director of UnLtd India, Bombay HUB and Journeys for Change. UnLtd India finds, funds and supports early stage social entrepreneurs in India. To date, UnLtd India has supported over 100 individuals and 60 start-ups tackling various social issues. Pooja also led on the creation of Bombay HUB that is a collaborative work space for individuals with ideas and passion for social change. Her third venture, Journeys for Change inspires leaders and social entrepreneurs to create more impact through learning from some of world’s most exciting changemakers. Pooja is constantly on the lookout for doing things that are meaningful and fill a gap as well as promise huge learnings and fun!
