TEDxSALEM is here,the most awaited event of the city. Rather than seeing the fact that TED had ideas worth spreading, it was more like TED by itself is an idea that is worth spreading. That lead us to TEDxSalem. FascinaTED by the makers of the world and TED.ExciTED to announce the GRANDEUR – TEDxSalem.

The team TEDxSalem is organizing TEDxSalemWomen on Dec-8th 5-9pm. Followed by the live speakers at the venue, we will have a simulcast of TED Women conference at Washington D.C.

Chitra Lakshimi

Chitra received a Doctorate degree from Anna University for her research in designing materials for imparting value education using Harry Potter novels. She has won the "First time speaker award"(2002) of the British Council of India.A trainer and examiner of Business English Certificate program of Cambridge University ESOL, offered by the British Council

John Peter

John Peter is the Chief Executive Officer at Anisha, a Non-Profit Management industry oriented towards poverty alleviation, for the past 6 years, Trustee at Center for promotion of social concerns, Director at People's Solidarity Association, has been in the field of social work for the past 30 years. He is the Coordinator for Science for people's development extension department, St.Joseph’s College, Trichy. He has conducted 'social analysis' sessions to students, encouraging them to share their knowledge for people's development and has received an award in 2006 by St.Joseph’s College Alumini Association, for People’s Solidarity Association (PSA) services for the economic empowerment of Women. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge in planning and organization. As a Micro-finance practitioner especially interested to include the excluded, he initiated early childhood education for rural children, friends of tree network. He creates opportunities for the young children in remote villages to get quality pre-school learning. He is currently promoting a community college for dropout youth to make them employable, to prevent them from the trap of 'bonded labour', thus motivating students and youth to strive to create a better society with values of justice and peace
