In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Antoneta and Ada Galeș

Antoneta is a writer, known under the pseudonym of Tony Mott. She has been writing since she was a little girl, she says, starting her first novel when she was 14, but never finishing it. She writes crime novels, having four published, the first in 2008. Antoneta is also the founder of a company meant to help people become happier. And nevertheless, a mother. She is the mother of Ada, a young successful actress, who has won a debut award at the Uniter (The Theatre Union of Romania) (UNITER). Ada had a passion for acting ever since high school and she decided to follow it. At 25 she has won, next to the Uniter award, the award for the best actress at the Contemporary Drama festival in 2015. She says that she choses the roles that send a message, that can make her a better person and hope to be able to continue working both in the theater area and in movies.

Alexandru Benko

Alexandru Benko worked for 17 years at the Tractor Factory in Miercurea-Ciuc, where he rose to the position of CEO. Since 1990, he has been working with forms of renewable energy. He was the first person to plant a culture of energetic willows in Romania, trees used successfully in other parts of the world as a renewable source of energy. The idea was taken from the Internet, („Salix Viminalis Energo”) and Alexandru Benkő brought the willow from a Swedish research institute, successfully applying it in Romania and several other neighboring countries to serve as an alternative source of energy. In addition to its use in the energetic field, the willow is also successfully used as a source of cellulose, fixing steep slopes, and to prevent landslides.

Alina Ursu

Alina Ursu prides herself with being of romani ethnic origin. She wanted to be the first romani woman in the country to talk at a TEDx event and succeeded.

Ana Werczberger

Ana has graduated from the Physical therapy at ANEFS and became a fitness trainer shortly after. She has worked for many years as a personal trainer and a body&mind instructor. Ana is the cofounder of Yoga Academy Romany, a certified yoga instructor, and as she has always been drawn to combining the mind – body – soul development she also works as a coach and has a passion for self development and knowledge.

Anda Netejoru

Anda is 18 years old and during high school has tried to be involved in as many activities as possible, managing to discover more than one passion along the way. She has volunteered for Hospice and Youth Academy and feels that this is a very important part of her life. Anda was also involved in several AIESEC programs like GROW, where she coordinated and activity dedicated to travelers – they have installed a board in the center of the city where people passing by could write the quotes they guide their life after and the project was a real success, and World of Money. She has very good results in school, participating at the national olympics for several subjects. One of her main accomplishments so far is winning second prize at an international NASA competition where they had to imagine a space ship, with their Hiraeth project.

Andrea Gavriliu

Andrea Gavriliu dreamed in childhood to become a ballerina. But after discovering theater she thought that the best thing would be to combine this two arts. Andrea Gavriliu, actress and choreographer. A clear mind and original in the Romanian theater, she is an artist who adapts on the fly without forgetting that first of all it's important to be professional.

Andreea Moldovan

A specialist in infectious diseases in Switzerland, Dr. Andreea Moldovan was born Târgu-Mureș, where she graduated from the Medical Highschool, Department of Dental Technology and the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Dr. Moldovan has had an honorary scholarship at "Hôpital Cantonal de Genève", having become a doctor in Medical Sciences in December of 2008, and has been working at the “St. Constantin” hospital in Braşov, an elite medical facility, functioning under the slogan "Excellence in Health". Dr. Andreea Moldovan was the main participant in the establishment receiving the "Hospital Hygiene Excellence Award", offered by the World Health Organization in 2013. Of the 50 hospitals that were entered in the competition, the four finalists were chosen from Romania, Germany, Luxembourg and Ireland, and the decision was made by a jury of eight major European medical personalities.

Christian Macedonschi

Christian Macedonschi was born in Braşov and followed in the family tradition, by attending the German kindergarten, primary and middle school, and ultimately the Andrei Şaguna high school. After the 1989 revolution, he went to Germany to perfect his training, and continued his education at the Faculty of Economic Studies at the ”Friedrich Alexander Universität” in Nürnberg and obtained a bachelor's degree in economy at the University of Transylvania. He is an esteemed entrepreneur, having created workplaces in both Romania and Germany. As president of the Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in Brașov County, he participated in numerous international tourism events (Berlin, Nuremberg, and London) where he promoted the city of Brasov and the brand "Braşov. Be. Live it". He also coordinated, along with the German Economic Club and the County Council, the conclusion of partnership between Nuremberg and Braşov.

Claudiu Badescu

Claudiu Badescu is a sociologist passionate about communication; for more than 12 years now, he has has been working with international organisations and private companies based in Switzerland.

Dana Lupșa

Dana Lupșa is a doctor of management and an entrepreneur. She has been teaching at the University of Transylvania for 14 years now, helping more than 3500 students to develop their management skills and many more. As an entrepreneur she has her own firm in the business development area, managing to support start-ups and not only to find their identity and have a successful business, based on her both theoretical and practical wide experience in the area. Dana leads the Happy Moms association for 3 years during which she has helped the single mothers that join her program called Business Mom on developing 10 businesses. Currently, Happy Moms has expand its activity to other cities in Romania as well.

Dragos Arnautu

Architect Dragos Arnautu is the only Romanian who works at the Passive House Institute (Passivhaus Institut) in Darmstadt, Germany.

Dumitru Borțun

Dumitru Borțun is an associate professor at the Faculty of Communications and Public Relations of the National School of Political Science and Public Administration, as well as president of the Honorary Jury of the Romanian Public Relations Association (ARRP) since 2008. Dumitru Bortun has been on dozens of television and radio shows, conferences and symposiums, aiming to train the new generations of Public Relations specialists and to generalize the culture of communication in the Romanian society, disseminating his knowledge of strategic communications in academic, business, management, political and public fields including ministries, governmental agencies, prefectures and town houses.

Florentina Gionea

Florentina has studied energetic nutrition both in Romania and abroad, is a nutritional technician and continues to study and practice in order to improve her customers’ lifestyle. Marcel Cremene

A doctor and engineer in the field of computer science, Marcel Cremene is an associate professor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications. Having graduated from the same institution, he is an active member of its department of Communications, and head of the Adaptive Systems Research Laboratory. Between 2006 and 2009 he was a guest lecturer at the "Ecole Politechnique", at the University of Nice. Currently, he teaches a wide variety of subjects to bachelor’s and master's students. Mihai Comșiț

Mihai Comsit is doctor of engineering that works with Product Design and robotics. He attended the Transilvania University of Brașov and works at the Product Design Center for Sustainable Development. Dr. Mihai Comsit is now the Team Faculty Advisor for Blue Streamline Racing, a company that consists of a group of enthusiastic Transylvania University students that accepted the challenge to be the first Romanian Team in the Formula Student competition, along with students from more than 270 universities worldwide.

Nichifor Mihail Zăbavă

Nichifor Mihail Zăbavă has ten years of experience in the field of banking, operating with a very wide area of branches, from credit card fraud to coordinating the SME segment of the National Bank of Romania. Currently the Commercial Director of PrioriPay, the first institution of electronic money authorized by the National Bank of Romania, and operates an e-Wallet platform, is a primary MasterCard member with a license for issuing MasterCard cards, he owns the product Money Straight Home in partnership with the Romanian Post and is the the newest player in the market of acquiring (accepting online payments by card)

Nicoleta Chirica

Nicoleta has started her entrepreneurial journey three years ago when she decided to leave her job in a multinational company and follow her dream of designing. In 2007 she graduated from University with a specialization in cybernetics and started to work in the telecommunications field ever since. Her father was a sculptor and she has always been keen on design and arts so after six years as a technical engineer she decided to start selling the bags she designed in her living room and noticed that they were really successful. With the help of two of her friends Iutta has came to life. She graduated from an MBA that helps her with administrating the business and a design course that helps her on the creative side.

Raluca Crișan

„There are two ways of getting home…” says Raluca Crișan in her speech about how leaving home and your comfort zone can change your life. The openness to cultural differences can lead to the formation of new cultures and a proof of this is our own city of Brasov that is a true melting pot. Raluca, who has been an expat demonstrates this, explaining the audience how many benefits multiculturalism can bring.

Ramona Enache

Ramona is 27 and has studied architecture in Bucharest and continued with a masters in the Netherlands. Her idea of designing Pointer came up while she was living in Amsterdam, being in a park and spilling her wine glass not only once. The next day she started to think about a way that could solve her minor problem in an elegant way. Ramona currently lives in Berlin and continues to work on developing Pointer.

Razvan Basarabeanu

Razvan Basarabeanu is from Braşov and teaches at a professional development firma, in the Tools Machinery Operation with Numeric Command domain. He is a member of MENSA.

Silviu Măgureanu

Silviu Magureanu is the manager of AJA Registrars Romania, a company that manufactures air purification and sterilization systems for areas with a high risk of bio contamination, and also worked on air quality certification in hospitals. He is a well-known activist and philanthropist, having been active in causes such as civil rights, poverty, health, environment, economy and politics. Silviu Măgureanu is a skilled and informed speaker in the field of cognitive science, education and creativity.

Stéphane Combremont

The former swiss IT and data security specialist, Stéphane Combremont, is a real-life role model. His philosophy is simple: the only constant element of a post-capitalist society is change. How do we perceive this change even perpetuate it when it comes to our own security, our job? Do we perceive it reactively or proactively? Stéphane Combremont proposes a proactive solution. And this solution has only three ingredients. And if you apply these ingredients then you really can be an agent of change and instead of becoming content with being unemployed, you can create new jobs, new concepts and new businesses. You can even, as demonstrated by Stéphane Combremont, create the first adventure park in Romania, and turn it into the No.1 tourist destination in a city like Brașov.

Vanessa Cadar

Vanessa is 24 years old and has graduated from the American Hotel Academy where she got a degree in hotel management recognized by the Manchester Metropolitan University. She has worked in the hotel industry, then in real estate and is currently a sales and marketing manager for an online platform that brings in a unique concept. Next to her main job, her motorsport passion, she is also a wellness consultant, teaches at the University and loves horse riding. She has won various awards at the rally competitions she has participated like the first place at the Tess Women Rally in 2015, next to the award for best driving technique, second place at the Brașov Grand Prize in 2015 and third place at the Opel Trophy in 2016.
