You are cordially invited to the next TEDxTheHague salon at our brand new venue! Our September edition — themed The Sky is the Limit — is curated by TEDxTheHague ambassador Paul Rudenko. Paul writes:
"In our September event we look to see if there are limits to how much we can love, how far we can travel and how much we can recover from adversity. On top of that, to celebrate our first event at the Koorenhuis, we will treat our guests to a special journey that will go further than anyone ever imaged that they would ever go... "
We'll explore these limits by watching and discussing the following videos:
Andrew Solomon: Love, no matter what
In a quietly moving talk , writer Andrew Solomon shares what he learned from talking to dozens of parents — asking them: What's the line between unconditional love and unconditional acceptance?
Mars One Way - Leaving Earth Behind
Who would risk everything and leave everything behind in order to make history? In a short emphatic Vita Brevis film we get an insight into the thoughts and theories of five hopeful Mars One astronauts as they contemplate the reality of leaving planet Earth forever.
Hugh Herr: The new bionics that let us run, climb and dance
In an astonishing talk by Hugh Herr, head of the MIT Media Lab’s Biomechatronics group, we learn of the nearly limitless possibilities of prosthetics inspired by nature's own designs. The talk ends with a very personal story and special performance of dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis who lost her left leg in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.
