TEDxBedford 2014 took place on the afternoon of the 15th November 2014 at The South Bank Arts Centre, Bedford College. A diverse range of speakers joined us to share their ‘ideas worth spreading’ relating to our theme ‘by Design’.

When many people think of ‘design’ they tend to think of design in a tangible way like the creation of clothing, a car, or furniture. Maybe they’ll also think of graphic design like an advert or logo, for example. This year’s theme of ‘byDesign’ challenged the audience to consider that design is in fact all around us in areas we may have never considered before. We have encouraged our speakers to take a broad interpretation of our theme of ‘byDesign’ and as a result we have talks on everything from life in the Amazon Rainforest to business ethics.
Speakers told stories of design thinking behind objects, behaviours, businesses and services, and how they have been inspired by the higher ideals of beauty, nature and community. Our aim is that you, our audience, will start to look at the world in a different light, to celebrate the design around us all and even be inspired to have greater influence on the design of your professional and personal lives.
