In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Brewer Stone

Brewer Stone has been a student of China for more than 20 years. He did his Harvard Ph.D work on India and China, lived in Shanghai and Hong Kong for eight years, and speaks the language. In recent years his job as head of international investment banking at the technology specialist firm Pacific Crest has given him the opportunity to advise many of the most interesting emerging technology companies in Asia, including most recently Alibaba on their IPO, the largest in history.

Brian Haas

Brian Haas – Brian is the President and Chairman of the Board of PURETi Group, LLC, a US based manufacturer of photocatalytic surface treatments. He is an experienced entrepreneur with a background in operations, sales and marketing, and strategy. His previous start-up leadership roles include Vice President of Operations for BestOffer.com, and Co-Founder/Vice President of Operations of Beacon Fire & Safety. Following the sale of Beacon to Cintas Corporation, Brian served as the National Fire Director for Cintas’ Fire & Safety business and the Senior Director of Strategy and Marketing for Cintas’ Hospitality business. Brian holds a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University.

Chris Stakich

Since graduating from Harvard University in 2001, Chris Stakich served as the CEO and Chairman of the Board for Thinking Beyond Borders, CEO and Chairman of the Board for Rustic Pathways, and served on the boards of Compass Academies and University School. Emily Mesko

Emily Mesko is a singer, pianist and guitarist whose soulful performances inspire and energize audiences everywhere. Growing up in Arkansas in a multi-talented musical family, Emily began learning to play the piano at age seven. After studying classical repertoire through her teen years, she transitioned into singing and playing a variety of genres including R&B, contemporary jazz, Americana and folk music. Emily specializes in creating unique versions of hundreds of songs she and her audiences know and adore. With an astonishing array of musical influences, Ms. Mesko navigates the musical stylings of Alicia Keys, Tom Waits, Etta James and Frank Sinatra with the effortless grace of a true professional. Emily has performed in places all over the world, including France, Republic of Georgia, East Africa, Nepal, Laos and Indonesia. She currently calls SF home. In addition to being a world-class musician, Emily has experience in medical, health, fitness & adventure travel industries.

Greg Claxton

Greg Claxton is an 18 year veteran in the Air & Space Industry. He helped pave the way for commerce and exploration in the former Soviet Union. With an expertise in marketing space programs and a thirst for exploration he booked over half of all commercial trips to the edge of space. As a fellow explorer and future Astronaut he has a passion for space, exploration and innovation. He has also been privileged to work with many exceptional Non-Profit Organizations helping raise over $10 million for worthy causes around the world.

Howard Stephenson

Senator Howard Stephenson has dedicated himself to eliminating the 19th Century classroom and restoring students to their natural love of learning. Nationally recognized as a legislative expert on digital learning, he is proving how personalized digital learning tools can ensure mastery for all students. Senator Stephenson’s Dual Language Immersion legislation has put Utah at the top of the nation in the number of students learning Mandarin Chinese. He currently serves as President of the Utah Taxpayers Association. In addition to his duties as a Senator, he co-hosts a radio show, Red Meat Radio-Inside Utah Politics (860 AM Utah’s Big Talker), every Saturday morning from 8 to 10.Senator Stephenson resides in Draper, Utah with his wife Julie. They have 5 children and 8 grandchildren. Howard and his family love exploring Utah’s backcountry on mountain bikes and their four Missouri Foxtrotter horses.

Joe Sanchis

Joe Sanchis is Founder & CEO of Queue, which fuels virality at speed and scale through an innovative social queue. Prior to founding Queue, Joe worked in finance as a VP at Morgan Stanley, Wells Fargo and JP Morgan respectfully. Lei Yu

Lei Yu is Co-Founder & CEO of DrumPants, a startup rethinking what wearables can do for self-expression and empowerment through our wearable controller platform. She loves blending her skills of human-computer interaction design and people focused products. In her spare time, she's dreaming up new ways to pioneer physical interfaces and haptic interactions.
