Theme: Beyond Now

오는 2014년 2월 15일 열릴 TEDxKAISTSalon: Beyond Now는 ‘NOW’라는 공통 주제로 기획되는 연속된 TEDxKAISTSalon 행사들 중 두 번째 행사입니다.
우리는 Beyond Now를 통해, ‘지금 이 순간’에 대한 이야기했던 지난 11월의 Right Now에 이어, ‘이 순간 너머’에 대해 이야기하고자 합니다.

윌리엄 깁슨의 말 처럼, 미래는 시간이 흐른 뒤 찾아오는 것이 아니라, 지금 이 순간 우리의 주변에서 조용히 존재하는 무언가들일지도 모릅니다.
Microsoft의 Windows 발매로 개인용 컴퓨터가 자연스러워 졌고, Apple의 iPhone과 함께 우리의 생활 속에서 스마트폰이 당연하게 자리를 잡은 것 처럼, 미래는 우리가 그 무언가를 알아주기 시작할 때 자연스럽게 우리의 삶 속으로 들어오기 시작합니다.

이번 TEDxKAIST 행사에서는, 세 명의 연사와 함게 우리 곁의 미래에 대해 이야기를 하려고 합니다. 컴퓨터, 특히 스마트폰과 태블릿PC로 대표되는 모바일 디바이스가 우리의 삶을 어떻게 바꿀지, 그리고 우리의 삶 속에 어떤 형태로 자리를 잡을지에 대해 청중들과 그리고 연사들과 함께 이야기하고 아이디어를 나누고자 합니다.

지금 이 순간 너머의 미래는 어떤 모습일까요?

The TEDxKAISTSalon: Beyond NOW is set to be held coming February 15th and is part of a series of TEDxKAIST Salon events under the common theme ‘NOW’. We plan on opening an agora for discussion on ‘Beyond NOW’ as a follow up of the previous TEDxKAISTSalon: Right NOW.

“The future is already here. It’s just unevenly distributed” by William F. Gibson.

The future is not a product of the passing of time, but it may be those unknown aspects of life that ultimately shapes who we are.
As Windows from Microsoft catalyzed the popularization of computers and iPhone from Apple integrated the smartphone into everyday life, the future begins to naturally enter our lives when we acknowledge its unique importance.

In the second part of TEDxKAIST Salon series, we plan on discussing our future with three extremely exciting speakers. Focus will be placed on the impact of smart devices on our lives and its integration into our lives.

The key point for discussion at TEDxKAISTSalon: Beyond NOW is asking ourselves what the future will transpire Beyond NOW.

* Due to some limitations, simultaneous interpretation from Korean to English will NOT be provided. Only English subtitles will be provided for non-Koreans.
