Following the direction of past year's theme, Momentum, we decided it would be appropriate to choose Accelerate for TEDxManagua 2013.
When one has broken inertia, obtained motion and found rhythm, it is important to find the direction you want to go and accelerate!
Our speakers included a journalistscaptured three times in three different wars (andad even battled addiction all the way into Abu Grhaib), to an entrepreneur proposing to uniting Central America economically and culturally. We heard from a National Geographic fellow talk about Faith, Science, and Japanese Virgins, as well as an innovative Nicaraguan and his new Audio-QR code technology.
The event welcomed 650 people, of which 300 received free admission as they were from developing communities across the countries.
We featured a "Before I die I want to" wall, which was huge success. Members of the press waited outside the halls of the movie theater to interview speakers and guests alike.
It was a great day for TEDxManagua, and we concluded the event with a great desire to do more.
