ZHANG Shanshan, a scholar of literature, visited and studied all the ruins and relics of Chang’an in the span of a decade. Chang’an is the old name of Xi’an City and to understand the path and destiny of Chang’an, one must start from the relics of the ancient city. Xi’an since antiquity has been host to thirteen different regimes. What are these dynasties? As the ancient capital over a length of millennia, perhaps such boasting is excessive? Leaving a poetic note of "the subject matter at Ci’en Pagoda, the youngest among seventeen people," epic poet BAI Juyi revealed his remarks and whereabouts of this old city. The wheels of history keep rolling, but what do they leave us? What do they tell us today? Let us take a tour with this literary scholar in Xi’an to learn more about the city.
