At 20 Tyler met Agustin, a reclusive man that suffered from the debilitating effects of Polio. Agustin taught his life philosophy to anyone that would listen. His philosophy and life story led to a documentary film telling Agustin’s story and inspired Tyler to start Utah’s first farm-based High School, Roots Charter High School. Roots takes a different approach to education, discipline, and relationships. Agustin’s philosophy led Tyler to start the “243” program. This program has changed the culture and feel of Roots, creating a loving and safe environment for kids to grow in.
