Former United Nations reporter, current United Nations committee member on the economic, social and cultural rights, Olivier de Schutter has been focusing on the way we consume for a number of years. What impact does it have on our food, on our health, and on the environment? What alternatives can bring citizens to confront consumerist excesses?
Olivier de Schutter is a professor at the Catholic University of Leuven. He was the secretary general of the International Federation of Human Rights Leagues between 2004 and 2008 and a special United Nations reporter between 2008 and 2014. He is currently a United Nations committee member on the economic, social and cultural rights. His work focuses on the theory of governance and on economic and social rights in relation to the economic globalization.
