Coming to the TEDxUAH Standard 2022 Event, Nam Ta Quoc Ky shared the story of what he went through with the question being “ What would happen if the new version of you is not like how you expected it to be? “
In his youth, carrying a heavy load of work but few days-off, his body has alarmed the health related issues through times of fatigue but with the particularity of youth he chose to ignore them. Why listen, when you’re still healthy, young and fun? All that came crashing in when herniated discs came and changed him completely. It’s forced him to let go of his rose petal laid life to spend time getting treated and understanding himself. At first the injury took away his confidence with his own body ( at the gym, dance room and even in front of the mirror ) but then long after that he has realized that he shouldn’t be bother by the words and looks from people, brush off the negativity from judging gazes of people in order to live a happy and full life for himself
If this is the old Nam, he would be too afraid to change because the old habit, lifestyle and things would make him satisfied with himself in the safe zone. But with the new Nam, he has learned to understand and accept himself, realize what he went through to then appreciate himself and ignore the perceptions, scrutinizations that passed by by other people about us.
“Old” or “New”, "New” or “Old”?, speaker Nam Ta Quoc Ky has brought us a new perspective that there are a lot of situations that wouldn’t allow you to pick an answer because it’s gonna happen and you’re forced to accept. The “Old” might or might not have mistakes but it’s the foundation to form the “new”. Learning to walk through brokenness from the old to make more beautiful changes is the way that he had chosen and shared for the question that has been put out in the TEDxUAH Standard 2022 event.
Now let’s come with us to listen to Nam Ta Quoc Ky’s talk! TEDxUAH hope that this would help you in some parts find the unanswered question for what to choose, reach and hold onto “Old” or not.
