The Meme-ing of Life

Why do we make memes out of everything that happens to us? Why do so many people like and share these derivative jokes? What IS the meme-ing of life? In her talk, Jasmine Lee uses an uncomfortable number of memes to explore the importance of internet culture, demonstrate how memes can connect us with each other, and explain why you should be making and sharing memes about the dumb stuff you do every day.
Jasmine thinks that memes are pretty important, despite her family's insistence that they're "dumb" and "useless" and "a waste of your time, get a real job." When she's not at her “Actual Adult Job” in child protection, Jasmine spends her time curating her personal meme collection, volunteering with trauma survivors, and teaching little kids how to swim. She also has a cat that she loves very much.
