How should we approach the idea of death? As the ending of a lifetime or as a vital prerequisite for its continuation? According to Dimitris Damigos himself and his TEDxIonianUniversity speech, life as a concept only exists because death exists, which we shouldn't consider a taboo, but a natural function, “an artist serving life”, in the words of Damigos himself.
Dimitris Damigos was born in 1957, in Peiraeus, where he was also brought up. He studied Psychology and specialized in Clinical Psychology at the University of Lyon. He got his Master's degree in Medical Psychology from the same university, and was trained in Systemic Psychotherapy.
Today he works at the Medical School of the University of Ioannina as an Assistant Professor for Medical Psychology. He is the scientist responsible for the Medical Psychology Lab of the Psychiatric Clinic, and since 2004 has been the scientist responsible of the Master's Programme “Dealing with pain”. His scientific and clinical work is affiliated with the areas of Social Psychiatry, Psychology of Health, of Psychosomatic, of Psychonephrology and of Psycho-oncology.
